this is how I see it: you were kind of bored and really in love with polaroid photography, the pale yet intriguing sunlight made you go for a walk while you left your favourite music playing on repeat at home so it'll wrap you right up once you come back. the only companion on your little trip was a shadow, your shadow presumably that looked like it was the materialization of your thoughts. air conditioners suck up and blow out, creating circular movement of ivisible particles. corners create room, windows make the isolation from outside less appearent and that's why there is no need to glorify them photographically. death and destruction wander around as details everywhere, peaceful post-fighting-scenes leave their traces. daubted blotches of red alert your photographic senses in a satisfying way, you just know it. symbols of scientific space objects carved in sandstone remind you of the infinite, you look up to the sky. aerials, masts and wires don't block the view but give you an idea of the endless struggle of trying to reach infinity, poor souls desperately working their ass off to cross what was given to us. but ENOGUH! enough of those semi-spiritual thoughts, remain in your stable stance and don't fall over into the grass, greet your companion again. connect the spiritual sandstone sun with rooted potted plants. soak up the sunlight, what time is it?, what song must be currently playing at home?, the trip ends.

sorry, I just had to! I have no other possibility to just write down thoughts plus ~ve's misunderstanding of this piece got me a bit angry, if he only had a tad more insight. excuse my existencialist thoughts...
oh I love polaroids and the way you arranged this, definitely a for you. keep it up!

haha I see the connection: shadows, rectangle things, line things, and sun face.
I too love polaroids, I dont have a camera but I've been lucky enough to use one that my friend owns. the photos come out so interesting.

this is what i make of it o.0

(1) Things die around you nad you know life is ephemeral (2) So we polute our place for as long as we live cause we know it wont be our problem (3) While nothing happens life continues in all monotony (4) our shit begins to pile up, but we dont care, it wont be our problem in the end (5) But we never stop to notice, the sun rises for us every day, giving us our life and giving us time (6) Even though it looks like a complex mess, if you continue and work at it, it can all make sense (7) So stand over the life given and make the best (8) cause the sun will always be there for us.

(if you didnt notice each number is for the next photo )

I love the look and feel of these photos, ya know, the old look and all of that. I also like how you left the poloroid borders and everything on it, really looks good im definentally gunna fav this man, great job!

I like the repeating sun idea a lot. Like a sunset thing going on. You're adventures during the day. Got cooled off after talking to a skull named Uric, (Urich, maybe? I forget how to spell it), then you opened this door to the outside, painted some shit and got all Jackson Pollack-like and trashed shit. Then it was time to eat lunch at high noon so you'd have enough energy to try and steal cable, but then you stood and pondered about how stealing cable is wrong.

Haha yeah, only I didn't trash the shit -- it was already trashed for me behind some evil vitamin industrial complex.

wonderful shots. i love how that sun repeats at the end. like a period at the end of the sentence i guess. seeing this is like taking a walk and just observing things as you walk by. the one with the dead thingy in it kicks ass, man. its like you killed it and stood over it and used that shot as a trophy.
have you ever checked out anything from Robert Heinecken? hes got some stuff you might dig on.

The whole series is pretty decent. I think it would have been really cool to alternate between self-portrait silhouette shots and the others photos.

What I really like about this piece is not the photos themselves but the way they are presented. The grain in the Polaroids, the imperfections in their arrangement. Creates a really nice composition.

Cancer's real hereditary in my family. 100% of family members over 60 (that I know in this area, which are quite a few) have all had some type of serious cancer/s. It's no fun man.

Sean is above death. Air ducts bring good air in. There is a big, blank expanse of black space to suck your thoughts out. A pile of junk, broken, that no one wants. The sun whispers sweet nothings. Wires of criss-cross connection. Sean is above the minions of green bladed steel. No one listens to the sun anymore.

seanfus In reply to glue [2003-09-10 17:30:48 +0000 UTC]

OMFG I love your interpretation (or whatever) of it. That's the effect I wanted to give, rather than just, "Oh it's a dead bird with Sean casting a shadow over it. Oh it's some big fans. Great, it's some stupid wires..." and stuff. Thanks for being hip (or "hep" as the kids say now'days).

That picture of the old junk reminds me of the back of my grandmother's house, because you step back there and it's like a time warp. You can find old shit from the 50's that's half broken or just rusty that was thrown out back there. I can't believe it didn't occur to me to go back there to take pictures until I saw this. I also dig the clothesline antenna thing. At least I think that's what it is. And that fan picture reminds me of shots that Isaac Brock takes.
You work wonders with a Polariod.
Yet another for Seanfus.

vllllllllll In reply to ve [2003-09-11 00:28:20 +0000 UTC]

um. no. you said you saw 'no connection what ever' wich is prolly pretty imposible seeing as there all photographs, first of all. hows that for a connection. of all the things in the world to put together he only used photographs. so there ya go. theyre all polorids, so the photographic method is all the same, so, its even more 'connected', and lastly, dosent putting all of them together in one peice unite them and connect them regardless of what is being put together?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ve In reply to vllllllllll [2003-09-11 09:51:26 +0000 UTC]

No i dont think so , putting a man and a woman together dont neccerly creates babys does it . iand yes i dont see any connection in meaning by the photograps thats what i meant, if it would have been a theme i might have seen it but alas there is not .

Now this comment reply/spam/war/thingie has gone a bit to far. To say it short i cant understand it (yes i know its all photos and yadayada)
But i cant understand WHY you just put together some photos with out no linking (atleast no obvius one) up, they are all nice shoots, but wheres the meaning of it ?

seanfus In reply to ve [2003-09-11 22:17:11 +0000 UTC]

My final thought on this dude: If you think that the ARTIST has to tell you what the connection is, you're already looking at art/photography the wrong way. The catch is to find a personal connection, or a connection on some level that YOU can relate to. If you can't, don't comment and flame (okay, " flame" might be a bit brash. You didn't flame, but it was borderline). Just move along and ignore my shitty art and photography, and we'll all be a lot more happy.

Like a pretty princess.
