The cloud/popcorn character is by the animator Don Herdzfeldt. You can check out some of his stuff on youtube I think! Look for "the animation show", "rejected", and theres some others but they don't have the popcorn thing. i recommend seeing all of his stuff though, he's hilarious

Great work with the colors here. Makes me think of hitchcock for some reason. Is his head supposed to be flat?

The original idea was that the right side of the picture was how the guy sees the world: plain. I was originally going to do a face and everything but I ran out of time for the project so I made it more of a silhouette, which still works because the guy still finds him boring.

I didn't think it is [i]his[/i] shadow, just a shadow. I see what you mean now, that contrast is effective, even if I didn't spot the meaning at first.

Actually, it's an idea I'd like to explore myself. I don't have photos of the work because it is being held by my previous college at the moment, but I did a similar thing but using mark making for contrast between freedom and constraint.

A quick tip: don't use flash. Just use a steady hand, and turn the flash off. Then, you can go back to a photo-editor and up the contrast, change the lighting, etc. Try that and I'll write a more detailed comment
But I will say that I really love the floor, and am quite curious as to who that man is! You've drawn him once before. You are improving so quickly (oh snap, I forgot how old you are...). I really like the tones on his face, and a cute little addition is that man of your avatar in the background

Well i tried without the flash, but they turned out so blurry! This was the best quality one out of all of them. My camera ran out of batteries, and now my artwork is being hung up in class, so I can't take another picture
I honestly don't know who that guy is. I saw him when i was looking for references, and ripped out the page. I think he's some famous creepy artist. There was a story on the page that tells he often never really shows up for interviews, just hires actors to pretend to be him. So this actually might not be him

Setting the camera on a surface (desk, table, chair, etc.) and pinning the picture to the wall opposite is one way to get a good picture, that's what I generally have to do.
