Description I woke up this morning and realized snow was falling, I decided to go for a walk on the forest and took several pictures of a tree trunk.
I processed them in Agisoft Photoscan and then obtained a High-Poly mesh. Finally I did some optimisations and texturing work, and now I have a perfectly working PBR game ready asset. it took me about 2 hours to make (most of it was just my computer processing really).
It was my first time using Agisoft Photoscan and the result is way above expectations ! I'll definitely do some more.

I just recently got obsessed with this photogrammetry stuff ever since I saw some megascan pics online. Your tree scan looks so awesome.

Way cool, I'm loving photogrammetry. Did you use a tripod? We did some photogrammetry at work in our down time recently and felt like a tripod would have really helped us. Regardless, this looks excellent for a first time Agisoft model.

Thanks !
I was not using any tripod, I just took pictures rather randomly while turning around the tree. Agisoft is very good at aligning pictures, I don't think you will ever need any tripod (expect for not moving while you shoot)
But keep some things in mind :
- Trees are really organic and noisy and thus need verry little precision to look right.
- Tree bark is really rough, so you don't have much lighting differences between your shots (I'm trying with shiny leather it's way worse !) This is important for Agisoft when aligning pictures.
- The sky was cloudy, so the lighting was very neutral. This helped a lot while creating the PBR textures.
- Same goes for the occlusion, the snow on the ground reflects the already ambient light, so almost no occlusion at all.
This is was almost the "prefect condition" to shoot.
I'm trying with a leather shoe, it's horrible for now
