------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've drowned my soul into the deep darkness of Hell, where Evil is forged, in the inferno of Hate.
To Hell and Back again...

My visit is branded with a hot iron into my conscience,
I've definitely lost my innocence.

... No more see shining the light...
... No more feel heating the sun...
... Just see crashing this eternal blight...
... Just feel on my neck the Devil's gun...
... On my temple ...
... The Temple of my life ...

Okay, fair enough. ^^
Well their aren't very melodic, I do have to be in the mood for this.
But my guitar sound is set for sounding like Meshuggah, and I play melodic, or technical death metal.
I like the attack in the sound.

For how long do you play guitar?

Thundermane In reply to Secular [2009-05-06 21:44:52 +0000 UTC]

Hmmm, I'd say 3 and a half years, perhaps a slight bit longer, but not longer than 4 I guess?
But don't mind for how long, it's what you do within those years ^^
And since I always push myself to play stuff which is actually to hard to play for me yet it does help.
This is the kind of stuff I practice nowadays:

The band I play in: [link]
I must add that the stuff we got on there is definitely NOT representative for how well we play nowadays, and the songs changed quite a bit. Also the irony is that we got enough songs to fill 3 albums, but we haven't officially got a drummer yet.
I'm practicing grunts and clean vocals myself at the moment, and the other bandmembers are practicing as well, so we'll see who will do vocals. It's probable either I or one of the bassists will do vocals. (yes we got two bassists).
Anyway, do you play any instrument?
I'm also planning to start playing cello, and I play bass on my thickest string of my 7 string guitar xD

I see, you're good ^^ Playing Anata must not be easy!
I play guitar too, but I'm not good. I don't work often, I'm lazy, and I improvise stupid things all the time. I should learn someday... But I never knew what to do to learn on my own, maybe learning songs by bands, working on tabs. Sure. I should do that one day

Two bassists, heavy artillery! I'll be waiting to hear the songs with the vocals then ^^

I sing in a band, Sumea: [link]
We're recording, remain the guitars and the vocals to be complete. It will be a three songs demo, all of them will be listenable on myspace.

Cello
It must be hard but very nice to play it ^^

Thanks ^^
Sad to see that you haven't got any music on your myspace yet. Let me know when you got something on.
To get better at any instrument without lessons is simple, keep practicing. Watch some tutorials, and learn from other musicians you know.

The problem for cello at the moment is that I have to wait to get one, first one to practice, and than I'll have to spare for one for myself.

The music should be on myspace around July or August
For now you can still hear an improvisation I've made, you'll see that's not very good ttp://www.myspace.com/larmedeneige

I see, and understand, cellos must be very expensive...

Thundermane In reply to Secular [2009-05-09 19:41:05 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, cellos are very expensive. You could get one for 450 euro's, but that would be like shit in the shape of a cello. >.<
I got informed that a proper cello starts from 1000 euros, and one that is worth of a cellist from 2000 euros.

I suppose the guitarwork on your myspace song is done by yourself?
Doesn't sound hard to play, but what I do like is that you do got feeling for what sounds good.
It sounded very melancholic, which I like a lot. You should listen Lord Belial once, if you don't know it already.
I'm not really into black-metal vocals, but I'm learning to like really every kind of metal.
I made a video sample for myself how I sounded, but I wasn't pleased yet. It's getting there, but I got to little volume and power.
But please do tell me when your band has got something on.

Yes, I've seen old cellos that cost more than 20 000€. Then, you've got the price of the upkeep ^^

Yes, everything on my myspace is done by me, even the shitty design
Thank you
Lord Belial is one of my favorite band yes, especially the album Revelation.

"but I'm learning to like really every kind of metal." me too, except that there are some that I really don't like, so... but it's never absolute, I can enjoy a special band in a kind I do not usually like, or a song. For example I dislike Hardcore, but there is this song "De ma plume" by The Arrs that I enjoy very much, the guitar riffs are excellent

Did you submit your video somewhere?
Sure sure, I'll tell you when the songs will be uploaded (first, we must finish to record )

Thundermane In reply to Secular [2009-05-10 08:40:20 +0000 UTC]

No I haven't submitted the video
I deleted it after a day, since I thought it was shite. xD
Than again, it was a recording with a msn/skype/xfire mic, so I think it didn't catch the full spectrum of my voice. If that's not the case, than I REALLY have to work on my vocals. xD

Oh, I've got the same problem right now, I think it's due to my sound card, and to the many cable conversions I must plug in... What soft do you use to record?

I see, not very good..
I used to have Cubase SX2, but not anymore, I tried Reaper, a free sequencer, but it disrupted on its own, and now don't work anymore... Home studio sucks

Yeah my fellow guitarist uses Cubase as well. He seems to be very happy with it.

It's nice, a friend has Nuendo, made by the same company (Steinberg). It's more complete. Huge but very loud!

Loud? That doesn't seem like much of a priority when recording.

No, if you've got a good computer, it's not a problem ^^
