When I was in middle school several years ago, my music teacher said something to me that has always stuck in my head. She pointed out that the definition of music is just organized sound. There are sounds all around us, birds tweeting, cars going by.. those are unorganized. If someone were to take those noises and conduct them into a melody, it would become music.
