Description
24/365I've been wanting to take this for a long while, and figured today was the day (since I couldn't come up with anything else). I guess it's about self-reflection, examining your soul and whatnot.
I think I'm getting better at expressing emotions and stuff through pictures. Oh, and by the way - the model is my brother this time, not me.
24. When you are 80-years-old, what will matter to you the most?
Erm. If you've been watching me a while you know that if I make it to 80, it'll be just about the biggest miracle on the planet.. So I guess just the fact that I'd be alive. God, how much pain would I be in? I wonder if I'd even function correctly, or at all. *shudders* I'd rather not even think of it.

This is a great concept, and the composition is such that the viewer has the impression they could be looking at their own reflection. I'm intrigued that the hand is pretty much in focus but the reflection isn't; I'll have to experiment to see how a camer's autofocus handles reflections. The depth of field has been managed nicely, keeping both immediate foreground and the background out of focus. I'm guessing the graininess is due to being taken in low/natural light. Please excuse me if I attempt my own interpretation of the idea; it's so good that I'm sure I'll have to try it.

Thank you for the feedback, I'm really glad you like it! And of course you can do your own interpretation; art is all about stealing.
My camera's pictures always come out very grainy, even if the ISO at 100. I'm not sure what's wrong with it, or if I'm just doing something wrong. As for the reflections.. The camera will focus on what is in the reflection, and not the glass itself. So for example, if what I was reflecting was 20 feet away, the DOF would be much larger than if the object was very close to the mirror. I hope that makes sense.
Again, thank you for the feedback and I'm looking forward to see what you do with the concept! (:

This is lovely. I've been meaning to take a picture like this since I smashed a mirror in May.

Haha, I have a whole box of shards. They're great props, especially for conceptual shoots.

I think so too. My folks want me to throw them out, but no, I have concepts to photograph! I plan on gluing them all to a wall and taking a picture of that next.
