Captain's Log
Stardate 2262.8.16

For the next few days the Saratoga is going to be dodging asteroids.

The inhabitants of Doba Prime are suffering from a severe pandemic. Thankfully a vaccine has been developed. Not so fortunately, it was developed on a world quite a distance away and now it has to be delivered. And quickly. Even less fortunate is the fact that Doba Prime is difficult to reach. The entire system is both surrounded by and filled with an unusually thick asteroid and debris field. A ship can go around it, as is standard procedure when visiting or leaving. However to do that adds two days to the trip.

The disease is spreading among the Dobans like wildfire and for every hour's delay hundreds, perhaps thousands will die. To deliver the medicine as quickly as possible a ship will have to travel through the field. A ship could make it by deflecting or destroying the asteroids
but for safety they would have to travel as slowly as possible and that would take days. Once again time time we can't afford, the vaccine needs to get to Doba as quickly as possible.

And that's where the Saratoga comes in. Delphis class ships are the smallest in the Fleet and one advantage of this is that they're very manueverable and can go where other ships can't. Starfleet's larger ships are simply too big to try to get through the field quickly so the Saratoga is being sent.

This trek is going to be very dangerous. Getting through that field will require every ounce of skill from both Helm and Navigation. The slightest mistake and the Saratoga will be smashed like a pancake. I've ordered all civilians and non essential personnel off the ship. They'll be staying aboard the USS Rigel, which will wait for us outside the field until this mission is over.
