Captain’s Log
Stardate: 2259.9.12.

For the past two weeks the Saratoga has been conducting planetary studies of Ingri IV, a small M class world. The planet is smaller than Earth with low gravity and absolutely humongous life forms.

The southern hemisphere is covered with thick forests and jungles. The northern comprises mostly of plains and grasslands. We are scheduled to be here for a month altogether and I’ve decided to land the Saratoga on the surface and turn our research vessel into a temporary planetary research base. For safety’s sake I’ve chosen as our site a tiny islands in the northern hemisphere. There are no
animals on it and not trees so we can see and scan for kilometers in every direction.

Delphis-class ships are one of the few Federation starship classes equipped with the ability to land on a planetary surface, thanks to breakthroughs in gravity control and vessel structural integrity. This is the first time I've done it with the Saratoga and I definitely plan to do it often!

Landing has definitely pleased a lot of the crew, especially Doctor McCoy, who likes to keep his feet on solid ground as much as possible. It’s also nice to look out the windows and see sunlight and to be able to go outside and breathe fresh air.
