Description
The Invaders are one of my all-time favorite teams in the history of comics. They had an all-star cast with innovative characters, and there's something just iconic about these powerhouses parachuting into the teeth of the Atlantikwall and wading into swarms of Nazi jackboots. From left to right, Toro, the Human Torch, Bucky, Captain America, the Sub-Mariner, Union Jack, and Spitfire.

Toro and the Human Torch were easily the most challenging to do; how does one draw a human being (or, in the Torch's case, an android) completely engulfed in fire, when that fire is actually ignited and sustained from within? Ultimately I went with the light/dark coloring and classic-style 'blank' shading, using the shading to suggest features rather than actually drawing them. I'm not so sure I accomplished the effect I was going for, but at least I think it's clear that they're both literally on fire.
