A little interpretation on how things would be if it had gone the right way. Zirra wasn't feared or hated, and Malefor was born to his parents, not the Guardians. His name wouldn't be known as Malefor, for his parents would have named him Aladrae, and they all would live together as a family in the clans cave. Mesphito would be the dad who told silly jokes to make his family smile, and Zirra and Aladrae would be close, rough-housing siblings.
Zirra wouldn't have created her elements or killed Mesphito. She wouldn't have left the clan and found her gold jewelry. Instead, Phonorius, thrilled at the aspect that Zirra was interested in all this jewelry and fancy wear, would decorate her daughter everyday in shiny sparkly ornaments. And Zirra, even though her favorite color was gold, wouldn't mind, since all Adalisks have a fondness for jewelry and regal decor to wear.
Aladrae and Zirra would have been the wonder of the century, since no one had seen their species in either a very long time or not at all. Together, they would have accomplished impossible feats, defeat every foe who challenged them, and be the ultimate guardians of the world. Zirra would discover she was an Adalisk through her books, and would set out on a journey to find one of the last three remaining books that tells of the Adalisk, Aladrae and her parents by her side.
And Mesphito and Phonorius, the parents of both an Adalisk and a purple dragon, would be the proudest parents in history.
Aladrae's powers and abilities wouldn't have gone to his head due to Zirra constantly pinning him down and winning their wrestling fights. Zirra would have kept him grounded, and with no room to admire himself, he would discover something that pleased him more than power. Using his abilities to help and protect others was much more rewarding and made his soul feel complete and filled with happiness greater than domination ever could.
Anywhere either Zirra or Aladrae went, their family would follow and be behind. They would do everything together as family.

Zirra's so big!!

Yes. I've mentioned time again that Adalisks grow to be bigger than dragons.

Where's Zirra's gold jewelry? Why she wearing that?

If Zirra never left the clan, she wouldn't have found the treasure room with the jewelry that caught her eye. Phonorius would dress her with all kinds of jewelry, and even though Zirra's favorite color is gold, she wouldn't have minded, since Adalisks have a great fondness for jewelry.

Is that Malefor?

Yes. Malefor would have been born to his parents instead of the Guardians. The darkness never would have corrupted him and gave him that darker look. And since every time he started to feel full of himself, he'd pick a pompous fight with Zirra and she'd pin him down easily every time. He was constantly humbled, and with no room to think of how powerful he was, he discovered that he enjoyed using his abilities to help others was much more fulfilling. His name also wouldn't have been Malefor. His parents would have gave him a different name.

Really? What would have been Malefor's name?

Aladrae. (Al-ah-dray)

How would Frillisean's life have been affected by this?

She would have married Pyron and become a mother. She would never have had to leave the clan and join the dragon army. She would have been just an ordinary dragoness.

Would Frillisean still have been friends with Zirra?

Yes, but they wouldn't have been as close, since Zirra would have many other friends as well.

Would Zirra have met Cynder?

The meeting of Cynder's parents happened due to the dark times of Malefor's rule. With no Malefor conquering the world, her parents wouldn't have met. They would have gone with other mates and Cynder wouldn't have been born.

Would Spyro have been born?

No. Spyro's birth came about with the ancestors breaking the law of the purple dragon being born once every ten generations in order to fight Malefor. If Malefor had not become evil, Spyro wouldn't have been created at that time. He would have been born many generations later.

How would Zirra learn she could create elements, and what elements would she create?

She'd still create the wind element, since she always loved flying and wanted the ability to have no limits in the air. And that would have been how she'd discover she could create elements. She'd be trying so hard to fight against the wind and command it that she would eventually breathe it one time.
She would also create the element of hypnotism. A Tremor plagues Malefor and she knew from her books that Tremors are vulnerable to hypnotism. And now since she knew that she could create elements, she would set to work mastering and breathing it. Which she does.
