It's kind of been the basis of my entire argument. But if I may ask, why bother with all the attempts at conquest? Why didn't you just open diplomatic negotiations?
Let's look at some facts here. You have an armies' worth of changelings we could've placed into the job pool. You feed on love, which Equestria has in excess. The feeding process doesn't seem to have negative side-effects for the food source, so you aren't parasitic creatures.
Frankly, you could've just minded your own business and not gone through with the 'conquer everything' plan, and you wouldn't have had to put up with the trial and everything. You could've lived a long, peaceful life without taking all the risks you took by trying to worm your way into the royal house.
It seems like a lot of effort for nothing.
