dA is a strange place because on one hand all this niceness and politeness can indeed be nauseating, while on the other hand it represents a remarkable self-regulating mechanism to prevent the place from becoming a piece of hateful garbage like YT or FB. And all that without any moderation, though I think that if you really insult people and receive too many complaints they might kick you off, but I'm not even sure of that. I think that most of the time when people are kicked off it's because they liberally stole imagery from other users. I wouldn't mind the tone be a bit more aggressive though, the flame wars on YT it do lead to interesting new insights every now and then, even if 98% of the time they're utterly pointless. It's weird still, because the bottom line here on dA appears to be the famous American complete freedom of speech, but at the same time hardly anyone ever really speaks. If you know what I mean. I guess so. And I have to admit I do comply with the general velvet-glove approach here on dA. I don't think I've ever written a comment like "This is a total piece of garbage and how dare you profile yourself as a professional artist" or "I wouldn't give up my day job if I were you", even though there have been plenty of times such thoughts did cross my mind. It's just too hard to fight this "soft force" of ubiquitous niceness and kindness for some reason.
