And going into true logic, he shouldn't exist, but taking into the vampire stuff then he wasnt truly dead at the momento of the transformation (like any other vampire) so he couldn't have been in that state.

Buffy: the Vampire Slayer was a show of the late 90s, there are several blunt mentions of the vamps doing people.  There was also a werewolf, he was kinda nerdy. Think of it as a Jossed "I am Legend".
