Nice take on Fortune man. Muted colour palette really gives this that important Shinkawa feel and you make that your own with your trademark understated style and sharp lines. Also makes me want to track down a pre-owned copy of Sons and re-experience it. TO EBAY!

Thanks, fam. Sons is my favorite title in the series, by far- (with the exception of Guns, placing higher.) How've you been lately, man? Haven't seen you in a minute.Β

Not bad thanks man, been working on a commission that's fairly complex (also will probably appear here eventually but has a timed aspect to it so I'll be keeping offline until the Birthday it's for is sorted) so haven't been doing personal work for like a month. Have a piece on pause I will probably upload as soon as I'm done on the commission.

I didn't get on to the later episodes in between playing some other stuff when Snake Eater arrived (also I had a load of crap trying to get a copy then that copy not working and the people I bought it off stiffing me and that put a bad taste on it for a while) and then going 360 for the PS3 gen, so I've done MGS, VR Missions and Sons. I like the PS1 MGS best but I thought Sons was really great too. That opening on the boat with Olga is one of my favourite PS2 setpieces.

Word, Olga is probably my favorite character from Sons. Fortune is awesome, and Raiden is my universal fav. But Olga's design, story, badassery, and over all attitude was so dope. From her pistol battle on the Main deck, to her Cyborg Ninja-ness on Big Shell. She's amazing.Β

ALSO- I was thinking, since next March (first 3months of 2019 actually) births the most anticipated titles on my list. MAINLY THE RE2 remake. I say, maybe.... a collab? I'm thinking, I've never drawn Claire before. And i just watched the INSANE footage of her and Dr. Birkin's fight in the boiler room. Bruh... Shit is getting drawn regardless, figured we can make a collab out of it. Sort of like a redemption of our last joint. My lines, your colors. BUT THIS TIME- No "prostate finger" xD

Yeah man, I dug Olga a lot too. Honestly it's been about 18 years so I can't remember all the ins and outs of the story but I remember liking the way she wasn't just a throw away bossfight to break you into the game. Also while we're on that, the game had great bossfights. I maybe wasn't as keen on Vamp's fight (is there a way you can beat that and the girl doesn't die?) as it broke pace a bit? But I liked that at a time where it was all 'oh we need to break game structure, we need to be more cinematic etc etc' Kojima et al did an excellent job of showing there's no reason you can't do a bit of both.

That sounds awesome, pop me a line. And dude, you can let the Prostrate Finger go, don't worry. You aren't Rob Liefeld. It was one finger, not an entire career xD. And yes am interested to have a punt at the remake, doubt I'll buy it on release (cos I'm poor) but it's on my gaming to-do list.

Vamp’s fight was annoying to me, because despite how much I respect Phil Lamar. Vamp as a character was a cocky douche. And naw, you cant actually prevent Emma from dying. It was written into the story. Hence Otacon’s depressing- AND AWKWARD AS FUCK, childhood memoirs. I did however dig the fights as well. Albeit infuriating at times.

Im- not sure, AT ALL. What im gonna do January-March. There are literally a dozen games dropping that are on my list. Dying Light 2, Ace Combat 7, KH3, DMC5, RE:2, The Division 2, Anthem, Sekiro- to name just a few. But RE2 is a guarantee. Too much sentiment involved to skip.

That's good to know. I played it at a time where I only had internet if I logged in at the campus and it was all blocked off from gaming sites and suchlike and whatnot, so I was never sure if it was like the Ocelot torture sequence in MGS where you could 'pass or fail' it. It had a good learning curve to it as well I can't remember any bit I really got stuck full on during.

Honestly, I'm a bit burnt out on modern gaming, but RE2 sounds at least on paper and from those I've talked to who got hands on with the demo at cons like it's gonna be a more taut version of Revelations 2? So I'd be down for that. Otherwise Sekirou, Code Vein...Darksiders 3 if it pulls its pants back up in the gameplay department from Darksiders 2. DMC5 I am interested in, but I'm at that point where it's like 'Look, you're 2 for nothing right now, this better be DAMN good.' with that series.

I forgot about Code Vein!! DAMMIT! Welp! Goodbye savings account. x.x

DMC5 has me intrigued for the style alone- and that Hideaki Itsuno is returning for direction. RE2 looks stunning to me. Coming off of the poor taste that was REVII- i need this. Bad.

I always say that but tbh I normally hang back until games I know everyone's gonna be all over come out like Black Ops 4 to buy my shit because then I can actually afford them without going on the ramen diet for a few months lol. Code Vein I would imagine I'll end up paying upwards of Β£25 for though whatever because I don't see that selling other than to a niche market, being an anime-as-fuck Souls-alike and therefore satan to all the CoDboys and Fortnitegirls.

Sidebar wtf is with Onimusha HD instead of a real sequel?

Yeah Dawn of Dreams was meh. Bit 'hey we heard you like bossfights, so we put a bossfight in your bossfight'. But it's more I just don't feel remasters. But then I'm an actual hardware guy and an unfiltered pixel graphics guy so it makes a warped sense.

Tend to treat them like albums like will buy an album reissue gladly if it's something where the original's like 20 years out of print or the suchlike and the only way you can afford to hear it is to get the reissue. I mean if they reissued Kuon from the PS2 I would be all over that like white on rice cos I never had a chance to pick that up during the PS2 era and now it goes for like Β£150 and that's the bottom end and like wise I bought Under Defeat HD on the 360 because I'd have to take out a mortgage to buy the Dreamcast version (If I somehow managed to get a used DC that worked in the first place lmao). I'd be all over a Genji 2 HD version too as that's probably the main game I regret not owning a PS3 for along with MGS4.

When it comes to Onimusha, if I didn't really get on with the original but loved the third, is it worth playing the second? They are ridiculously cheap here in the UK because apparently everyone here stopped playing ninja games the moment the PS1 came out (aside from the third which seems to be retaining some value, probably because it makes all those 'PS2 hidden gems' lists ).

The big trouble I had with the original was the deathtrap puzzles, I remember I hit something quite early that was a tile-slide puzzle that had to be done in under a minute or your partner died and the game was over, and I suck at those and it just soured the whole game for me that it had such an arbitrary thing that could kill you off in one go. I loved number 3 because it was basically a cinematic martial arts horror flick that you played, and it had such a big scope and long story. I feel like I should go back to the first with a guide and just FAQ the puzzles because I enjoyed the action and exploration.

The 3rd, I think, gets so much love because of Jean Reno's role. Plus a memorable OST, Paris scenery, etc. But skipping 2 wouldn't hurt too much. It's a different character/story(kinda). But i still recommend playing it.Β Β

Yeah it's a very memorable game experience. I liked the multiple character dynamic too, though would have dug being able to maybe choose from them although that would have made the story totally different. Feel like when they made Dawn of Dreams they tried to do a Terminator 2 and make 'Onimusha 3 II: Judgement Day' and it just didn't really work, all the overblown stuff like the huge character roster and the ridiculous 'Would you like a sprinkling of exploration with your bossfights' turned it into a poor man's Ninja Gaiden.

I'll keep to my plan of picking it up from a second hand shop if I see it decently priced then

I just meant from a story standpoint, Dawn of Dreams sort of turned me off. Don't know why. I guess i felt a 4th game was unnecessary. Felt the same way about MGS3 being a prequel. There was really no need for it. (prequels in general tho) But DoD just felt like it didn't need to be there. I feel like they tried starting the franchise over- which would have been a cool idea. But give it some time to simmer lol. 3 came out like a year or so before. Relax Capcom haha.
