Glad people actually make some stuff like this!

People generally think its an overrated game, and it seems like it deserves more publicity and respect. I however think this game was amazing and very tasteful. Its one of my favorite games ^^

Really? I've met like maybe a total of 4 other cats IRL that have actually heard and played this game. If anything, i would say underrated. Definitely deserves respect, but i honestly dont want too much attention on this title.

Allow me to explain.

Β Mirrors Edge is only getting a sequel IMO because the small, but devoted fan base ASKED for it. Rather than demanding it. As apposed to games like Kingdom Hearts, COD, Metal Gear, Assassins Creed, etc. That get so much attention they're expected to deliver on an annual basis. When that happens, the title almost immediately gets shittier in quality, and greater in finance. More teams are brought in, to accommodate the "Hype" and create or re-create something that is pretty much a clone of the first one or two. Ever notice how everyone is like "The first game was amazing!" or "They'll never be another like the 2nd." Its because the Fan Base is now GIGANTIC, and all want different shit. Which derives the initial feel and play of the game, from what it originally was to the "New Shit" it inevitably becomes. Perfect examples? Resident Evil. Silent Hill. Assassins Creed. HALO! Metal Gear Solid. The tens of unnecessary Kingdom Hears spin offs. Some may think the changes good or even great. But eventually you have to leave someone out of the loop. Something has be sacrificed to acknowledge the new demands from the growing audience.Β

Β Games with a good style, gameplay, and overall originality have a strong presence and remembrance because they were ORIGINALS. They never derived too far from the initial construct, and stayed faithful to their real fans and not the publisher/retail/media influence. Look at how much Call Of Duty changed. From Modern Warfare, to... this shit now. Nothing in the story even makes sense. Its all MP because money said "We'll play it, if this.." or "Change that, and we're good.." Ever wonder how games like Dynasty Warriors are even still around?! Its because they listen to their fans and have enough of a following, trust, and genuine respect from players to still buy the title.

Β The sad truth is that we'll never see another Jet Set Radio, or another Chaos Legion, because; 1. Its not in demand. And, 2. They would be wasting they're time ruining an already classic title. My point is this, Mirrors Edge is an amazing title, and like amazing titles it will undoubtedly do well. Sadly, it will change. Enough so, that it may not even feel like Mirrors Edge anymore. The more popular a game becomes the more it changes. Mainly FROM A FAN PERSPECTIVE, for the worst. I have faith in DICE. But after seeing how they've been handling BF. Im losing my trust.Β

Well I agree with you on almost everything, but i generally enjoy the Battlefield series, and considering the next-gen consoles and the amazing changes, I don't see what they did wrong. Halo and Call of Duty on the other hand.. Anyways, I trust them. I mean all companies have had their share of bad sequels, but it would be really hard for them to screw a amazing game like this up.

Thanks~

Dont get me wrong! Battlefield is an amazing series!... ON PC! Ive been playing since 2 back in 05. I started, or moved over to consoles after BadCo2 came out since Modern Combat was a shitty port. BF3 tho, it was horrible on console until pretty much End Game came out. The original maps blew, compared to BC2. NO DESTRUCTION VALUE! Grand Bazaar has fucking TENTS that don't even break down. I played the BF4 beta on 360, and the HUD alone is a cluster fuck. The party system is still flawed, and they changed pretty much all the menu setups to a complex maze of frustration. Not to mention the OP Carbines. I'll dump an entire mag into someone with an Mx4 which is around a .45/9mm i think, and they one shot me with a 5.56 NATO?! Naw son lol. That doesn't add up haha. Unless everyone that plays with an ACR are bonafied eagle eyes and some how pop off miracle head shots while under fire lol. I'll still in the end probably pick it up. BUT PC!?!? They have it waaaaaaay too good on that title. Like DICE only cares about that demographic. I understand thats where it started, but if you're not going to put a full effort behind a 2nd version. Then Dont bother. That goes waaaaay beyond graphics, frame rate, and processor speeds. Its (in my eyes) a money grab of sorts. Which is what i was originally hinting at is all. Β

I guessed it right then! And Brad Borne is one of the main game developers of Mirrors Edge. He is mostly known for the "Fancy Pants Adventures" (commonly referred to as FPA), and he is becoming quite well known after FPA became available for console. I highly recommend playing the Fancy Pants adventures if you like Mirrors Edge and Earthworm Jim.

This is a joint I'm willing to wait for, so they get it right. I'm curious on plot and stuff like that too, though.

Like I said before, this feels like the game. Same color scheme, et al.

Thanks, and likewise. The longer a game takes to release usually the better the game. This generation needs some style and substance among all the COD and Halo Garbage still flooding the cosmos.

Thanks man. Yea, i usually play the first game once a year as tradition, along with some other classics. But a few days a go i came across a post on tumblr that reminded me of awesome the game was in its entirety. Then im like "Th' Fuck is da sequel at bro?!" lol

This is so fuckin cool! What an awesome take on Faith. Love how you threw in the Pirandello/Kruger Security logo. And BTW, it is confirmed that they're coming out with ME2 but they're just takin' their time.

Thank you! I haven't heard anything new about ME2 since they confirmed it back at e3 2011. When they talked about it, they mentioned wanting to wait for the Frostbite 2 Engine. Now that its out and in use with Battlefield 3 and Medal Of Honor, Im hoping Mirror's Edge 2 is next.

Should be. That's pretty much all I've heard of it, though. It better look fuckin gorgeous though if they're waiting this long to even announce it or show anything.

SektrOne In reply to bbchain [2012-08-26 11:25:15 +0000 UTC]

Honestly the first game was meant only as a test to see what they could achieve through perspective from what i hear. Hence why it was so short. I dont think they counted on it being as big a success as it ended up being. The fact that there even is going to be a second game is good enough for me. The more time they take the better the game. But yea, hopefully its mind blowingly beautiful. The first one already was though.

Seriously. I can't even imagine how great it's gonna be with Frostbite. I nearly had seizures with the original, ME2 is gonna be so gorgeous you'll practically taste the colors.

SektrOne In reply to bbchain [2012-08-26 16:26:31 +0000 UTC]

Thats what im hoping. Honestly though "knock on wood" that they don't get carried away with themselves like they did with B3 and create a product that looks amazing on only one platform. In reality i think DICE learned from that choice with the not so friendly feedback (crying) from console owners about B3's graphics compared to PC.

That'd be fuckin tragic. I don't understand why developers do that.

SektrOne In reply to bbchain [2012-08-26 17:58:38 +0000 UTC]

Only mainstream cats seem to get away with that kinda shit from what ive noticed. EA and its affiliates seem to be the biggest culprits of that. Let Ninja Theory, Platinum Games, or From Software try and release an open platform title with biased technology. It'd be the first and last game in the series, period.

bbchain In reply to SektrOne [2012-08-26 19:53:22 +0000 UTC]

Well that makes sense. If they're that big, sure as hell they could get away with something like that without losing too many customers. I've seen companies do worse and still keep profits.
