A sort of homage to two of my favourite Edgar Allan Poe works, all thanks to the excessive listening of Nox Arcana's "Shadow of the Raven" soundtrack and random inspiration ^^"The characters here are the Raven from the short poem "The Raven" and the Red Death from the story "The Masque of the Red Death". The latter was the very first Poe writing I ever read, which is why it holds kind of a special place in me. And the Raven is simply epic. So here's for those two stories.

Minäkin kuvittelin Punaisen Kuoleman juuri tuollaiseksi. Harmittaa välillä kun useissa sovelluksissa se kuvataan tyypilliseksi viikatemieheksi XP

Kiitoksia. Ja juu, siihen törmää. Liekö se sitten jotenkin perinteisempää kuvata se viikatemiehenä? Itse en kyllä pysty Punaista Kuolemaa viikatemiehenä kuvittelemaan, sen verran erilaisia ovat minun silmääni.

Teoriassa, Poe vain muutti ruton nimeä. Viikatemiehen viikatehan kuvasi lähinnä kuinka paljon musta rutto tappoi ihmisiä, ei kuinka pelottava viikate tyypillisesti on. Mutta minusta Punainen Kuolema oli rauhallisempi, sen ei tarvinnnut esittäytyä minään muuna kuin mitä se oli.
Mikä oikeastaan taitaa olla sen ulkonäön syynä, se otti yhden uhreistaan muodon näyttääkseen Prosperolle kuinka mitätön aatelinen lopulta oli Kuoleman edessä. Memento Mori,indeed.
Huomasin muuten että olet tehnyt aika paljon VtM taidetta. Oletko chekannut Vampiren 20th editionin?

Hmm, hyvä pointti. En itse ollut tuota ajatellut. Itse tykkään ajatella Mustaa Surmaa ja Punaista Kuolemaa kahtena erilaisena ruttona juuri niiden erilaisten, noh, sanoisinko luonteenpiirteiden puolesta miten ne on esitetty. Sellainen saman asian kaksi eri aspektia, vähän niinkuin miten Pratchett joskus asian esitti (liekö ollut juuri Viikatemies-kirjassaan vai alkuperäisessä Magian Värissä, nyt en kyllä muista tosin ^^").
Ja juu, itse asiassa minä huomasin tuon itsekin tehdessäni kirjallisuusanalyysiä tästä kyseisestä novellista aikoinani lukiossa.
Juu, on minulla se. Sain sen PDF-tiedostona ruotsalaiselta kaveriltani, mutta olen minä pääsyt sitä hardback versiotakin päässyt selaileemaan roolipeliseuran illoissa kerran (ja kadehdin sitä onnekasta joka sen oli ostanut). Piirtämisen puolesta nyt on ollut aika kuiva kausi pitkään harmillista kyllä.

Jooh, minäkin näin sen luonteen hyvin erillaisena kuin tyypillisen Viikatemiehen. Lisäksi,noh, jotenkin punainen kaapu ja siteet ovat vain todella voimakas visuaalinen kuva.
Jooh, minulla on se PDF että kirja. Ja pitää myöntää, että vaikka se kirja on nätti, se ei kyllä ole kovin sopiva arkikäyttöön. Painaa paljon, ja sivujen lukeminen työllästä sen koon vuoksi. PDF iPhonella on huomattavasti kätevämpi XD
Ja ironisinta on, että W20 tulee olemaan vielä isompi.

Se on aina kiva olla se kirja siellä hyllyssä kaikesta huolimatta XD Itse olen pitään miettiny Dark Heresyn ostoa vaikka se kirja onkin PDF:nä tallessa, mutta hinta aina estää ^^" Kirottu GW ja niiden järeet hinnat.
Eikös ne aina ole isompia ja laajempia jne. mitä tulee uusiin edikoihin ^^" Joko niin tai sitten ne on viidessä miljoonassa eri jatko-osan jatko-osassa kun kaikki ei mahdu yhteen kirjaan.

No V20 pointti oli se, että se on super uber special Vampire kirja jossa on KAIKKI mitä tarvitsee Vampiren pelaukseen. Ei mitään splatti kirjoja (vaikka niitä on tietysti nyt jo kaksi :rolleye
Oletko katsonut mitä Fantasiapelit kysyy Dark Hersystä, voisi olla halvempaa?

I didn't come to think of that when I made it, but yes, it could also be kind of a tribute to the Nox Arcana songs as well. The Masque of the Red Death is my favourite musical score from their "Shadow of the Raven" album after all ^^

I love your Red Death concept here. Not to make any commercial stuff going on, but I made a Red Death myself. Actually two, nr 2 just isn't uploaded yet. Feel free to judge :3
Anyway, back to your piece: It's good, dark, the colors are wonderful for this piece, and the idea of the Raven being the Red Death's "pet" is brilliant. Very good work!

Väritys toimii tässä kyllä aivan mahtavasti! Rakastan tuota tummanvihreää taivasta, kuutamoa ja punertavaa kaapua, ai että kun on tunnelmaa.
Tässä on myös kivasti yksityiskohtia ja tyylikästä designiä, erityisesti nuo veristen liinojen peittämät kädet näyttävät todella tyylikkäiltä.

The background came out very pretty *_* Looking close I think the floor tiles aren't seamless, but the walls in the background turned out all the better ^.^ Keep it up, your coloring is getting even better and looks very neat ^^

I had problems with the floor tiles, yes, although I couldn't figure out why I couldn't repair it. I did try. And I think the problem there is also because some of the original ink didn't blend with the floor, again something I tried to repair but meh. I seriously need more varying textures... -.-"
I had the background colours in my mind pretty clearly even when I still sketched the image out ^^" Eerie pale-greenish moon was also something I definitely wanted in there. Although I myself am more satisfiedwith the face of the Red Death and the soft feather-ish thing of the Raven I managed to get out, than what I am with the background ^^"

Aw thanks ^^" I had the pose for the Raven in my mind readied when I first started sketching, and the Red Death design I had made earlier during a phase of what I call "aggressive inspiration" (only happens when I'm really irritated, makes me want to draw violent or bloody pics during it ^^"). Though this one I drew in greater detail than the previous design.
