i love how you keep the joker smiling
i mean, his face was frozen like that, but in the animated series he would frown...
it just seems more tragic that he's smiling when something so horrible has happened

Eeep, I love tis comic so far. <3
Joker is one possessive man. He attacked and almost killed a policeman who slapped Harley, and in mainstream, he's apparently brutally slaughtered an Arkham guard who barely whistled at her. He would not tolerate somebody laying a hand on her, as much as he is often shown not caring.
So yeah, I do think that in a perverse way of a mad man, he'd mourn her and miss her if she was actually gone, but when she's injured, he'd get protective and very violent against those who "broke his toy".

Great fan comic page. Yes the Joker willll hurt her plenty of times but his shriveled evil black heart does belong to her. In the comics (or use batman wikia) you can find Joker realized he cared about her.... so of course the mad man put her in a rocket to die with a bang.

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

Saltheria In reply to goldenheartaly [2012-03-04 12:24:00 +0000 UTC]

I already love you for reading and understanding that the rocket sequence in Batman: Harley Quinn emerged from him caring about her, not the opposite.
He seems very afraid of having human feelings, so most attempts to off her are indeed attempts to get rid of his newfound weakness in somebody he cares about.
Silly man should get over it, because she ain't leaving anywhere. XD

C'est dommage qu'Harley meurt :'-( mais je me demandais si le Joker a des sentiments pour elle car la façon qu'il la tiennait et la façon qu'il mettait son manteau sur ses épaules.

I dont think the joker would mourn the death of Harley, as he blatantly try's to kill her when she got in his way in Bruce Timms Batman The Animated Series

👍: 0 ⏩: 4

Saltheria In reply to JakFudo [2012-03-04 12:20:18 +0000 UTC]

Actually, no. To some extent, he would mourn her. If you read the DC Universe Online comic issue 7, where Harley is killed by an explosion, we can clearly see the Joker - even though after thinking he killed Batman/fulfilled his goal - look entirely unhappy, still talk to her although she's dead, before kneeling down before her body and actually closing her eyelids.
Would he do that if he didn't care? Doubt it.

JakFudo In reply to Saltheria [2012-03-05 21:39:18 +0000 UTC]

You say that like DC UNiverse Online is cannon. In the animated series, he becomes so infuriated with her that he knock her out of a building a good 20 stories high. She lands in a dumpster covered in blood and bruises.

Saltheria In reply to JakFudo [2012-03-06 12:08:35 +0000 UTC]

I have read Mad Love. A classic, almost 20 year old and often misinterpreted story.
Yes, he became very angry and lashed out. And while not excusable, that happened early, quite early in their relationship. Practically an origin of it.

If you watched more animated series, as well as more comics linked to it (and I recommend them), you'd see their attitude to each other became more mutual, with more understanding, with less seemingly one-sided interaction. By that time, I'd say Joker evolved enough to learn some human feelings like care.
In a particular comic, he openly attacked the policeman who slapped Harley.

And no, DCUO isn't a cannon.
Character are kept, however, to their classic looks and origins. Which for some like Harley did indeed start in TAS.

IF she was even remotely sane she would leave, but it sounds like you are defending the jokers particularly disturbing behavior towards others. Oh well.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Saltheria In reply to JakFudo [2012-03-07 05:45:42 +0000 UTC]

Well, too bad she isn't at all sane.

And no, I'm not defending Joker's behaviour. I'm justifying it in terms of who he is, and how he changed.

Selenium79 In reply to JakFudo [2012-02-25 18:03:45 +0000 UTC]

Yes it's true. I totally agree.

However, actually, I drew there a fanfiction written by somebody else, in which it seems more easy to understand Joker's behaviour, because during the 2 months he spent whithout her many things happened... If you have a good translator or if you can read french, I recommend you to go to read the fanfiction [link]
Or maybe I'll draw what happened before.
