Hehehehehehehe! Sorry I started off with the super-analysis and I am not even that religious!
Well I have read most of the comics and to be honest the plotholes and hastiness disappointed me...therefore I prefered the animated series of Season 1 in particular over the first 12 issues of the comics. But truth to be told the comics had some really nice aspects in it.
(By the way if Elyon is your favorite and you liked her powers in the comics, I believe you would love them in the animated series, if you haven't watched it yet! 
Anyway I believe that my most favorite character will forever be Prince Phobos! I adored the sleek manner he has and how intelligent he was (once again I am mostly refering to the animated series where Phobos gets much more screentime than in the comics, but to be fair I am also refering to the comics Trial of the Oracle issues and the Breath of Time issues

(: I was a big fan of the comics as a child, and I really didn't have a "critical eye" back then, I just loved the characters and the atmosphere, and of course all the magic. I never watched the series, to be sincere, because I was too "partial" towards the comics (yet again, in my defense, I was really young). I will give it a try now though!
I think Phobos was a great villain, and his design was really good too, though of course since I loved Elyon so much I couldn't love him as well ^^ And yeah, in the comics he didn't get all the time he deserved, I think mostly because they kept him as a mysterious character in the first issues leaving all the work to Cedric.

Yes I totally understand. I started off with the series and I loved the dark theme of it (cause the series is much darker, at least the first season that is) and all the battles and stuff in it. I read the comics later and I must say I was really disappointed by the lack of battles in it. In the series you see the battles as well as the struggles more, the agonies of people in meridian etc. Plus Caleb is not a supportive character but a main one!
I also loved the personalities in the series more. For example I did not like the way they made Irma clownish and plainly stupid. In the series she cracks jockes all the time but at the same time she is focused when she has to and gets her job done. Cornelia is not so much stiff in the series. In the comics she acts like a mother to them which also kinda disturbed me. In the series she is slightly more immature.
In the series they mostly focuse on how Elyon was drawn to the other side, gradually and slowly instead of the rushed thing I saw in the comic.
Agreed that to the comics' defese they kinda made a bad ending for some characters at the end (and when I say "bad" I mean incredibly optimistic) but apart from that I loved it and the music as well as the new characters added in it! Elyon is better shown too.

Oh yeah Phobos doesn't make an appearance till much later. Yeah they wanted to keep it a mystery but I think they ended up making it kinda rushed if you ask me!

Il tuo italiano è molto buono (: Yes, I'll surely catch up with the series too! It reminds me of my childhood, I absolutely adored Witch, I rushed to buy it every month like my life depended on it. Then I'll be able to confront it with the comics! Though I admit I like much more the design of characters and the art style of the comics, I think it was more original while the one in the series is a bit more "traditional anime" and I don't know if I'll manage to get used to it ^^

It was my favorite too! I see. Understandable. I personally prefer the anime/series because it is darker and less "childish" in art and I prefered certain characters such as Phobos and Elyon's designs in the animated series. Comic Phobos was just too colorful for my tastes! 
I believe you would like it cause the style is not THAT much different. In fact I think the comics have more "anime-like" eyes than the series. The series looks more like a cartoon of the western culture than of an actual anime. Especially since the artist of the first issues either died or left so they changed artist and they made it even worse than before and by the end of the final issues it just wasn't the same anymore.
