Description Didnt want to upload this initially coz the lineart was messy and sketchy. But since did an awesome job of coloring the original sketch (on the right), i decided to show this to you so you guys can see how much work she put into her rendering of Shehulk.

Check it out over at [link]

I also decided to do a quick cleanup and added the intended shading on the blank areas which can be seen on the left.

No references as usual. juz my trusty pencil and eraser.

Silky did a lot of work on the lineart! She's really awesome in coloring and rendering stuff.

She'd love that. She can make any simple lineart a beautiful painting!

Thanks man! I wish i didnt make her arms too straight though but lesson learned.

eurynomos In reply to semaj007 [2009-01-09 11:55:53 +0000 UTC]

They're kinda straight, but I think it's OK, because they push her torso forward, making a great pose.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

semaj007 In reply to eurynomos [2009-01-09 16:33:07 +0000 UTC]

I guess they look ok being straight but ive always known that when drawing arms, they have to be bent at the elbows and wrists even juz a lil bit to give emotion and fluidity. Guess i was sleepy when i drew this.

semaj007 In reply to eurynomos [2009-01-11 11:10:56 +0000 UTC]

I learned that from sculptures. They almost never do straight limbs.

I remember the classes from a course about History of Art that I had, and what you say it's absolutely true (specially in Greco-Latin and Renaissance periods). I guess I could take some sculptures as reference - hadn't thought about it before.

semaj007 In reply to eurynomos [2009-01-12 16:16:46 +0000 UTC]

Sculptures are great references if you dont have models. They can help a lot in light and shadow.. foreshortening as well!

eurynomos In reply to semaj007 [2009-01-12 18:52:28 +0000 UTC]

You're right. I'll start a collection of sculptures pictures for reference

Sometimes the greatest advices come from oneself.

Shading is a tough job. Light sources and stuff are a right pain. But you gradually get used to it I think.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

semaj007 In reply to SilkyWays [2009-01-09 16:40:43 +0000 UTC]

i know basic stuff but if we get technical and accurate, im sure ill fail to get things right 99% of the time... unless im shading a ball or cube. LOL

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SilkyWays In reply to semaj007 [2009-01-09 16:59:42 +0000 UTC]

semaj007 In reply to SilkyWays [2009-01-11 11:13:42 +0000 UTC]

Haha... when one is good with details, less shading. When one hates details, heavy shading and shadows.
