|Serious/Calm|
Raphael has a very calm serious nature about him. It doesn't matter what type of situation he is in, he is the one who can easily keep his head on his shoulders and keep his wits about him at the same time. Though his lack of humor can hinder his social interactions many times, he can always be trusted to make good decisions.
|Emotionless|
Raphael has difficulty showing many of the more tender and joyous emotions, more often than not ending in an awkward scenario whenever he attempts them, cause of this he tends to stick to his calm non complicated personality.
|Loyal/Responsible|
His duties by birth are what lead his life. His Aura side taking over when he was a young teen, he is always keeping himself busy where needed. Never refusing to help one in need, Raphael takes his responsibilities very seriously. Loyal to not only his kind and brethren, Raphael carries an odd feeling of keeping his leaders as safe as possible. He can't quite understand why he feels like he has to, but it seems to be something ancient running through his veins.
|Respectful|
Respect is something Raphael values highly, it is earned with time. If this respect is ever broken between him and another is highly likely you won't ever get it back. This was something taught into him at a very young age by his grandfather.
|Self-less|
Even though he was a respectful young stallion growing up, his finding out about him being an Aura changed his outlook on others greatly. He would do anything to help out another being and tries his best to be of help. Failing in helping another brings on a deep depression for weeks for him, though his depression is more shown in irritability and sharpness.
|Temper|
Raphael is prone to snaps in his personality that can be rather unpleasant to be witness to. He is an expert at holding his temper, but every now and then he comes undone. Some say they're due to losing everyone that was close to him in one sweep. Raphael usually can tell when he will have one and he'll usually take off for a day and keep to himself away from everyone to keep from having an outburst on someone.
|Health Conscious|
Raphael is very conscious of his own health. He has his own routine that he does daily to keep himself in top physical condition. He also puts himself through a monthly test of just how far he can push himself both physically and mentally. The hope behind all this is that he can keep what is bound to come at bay for as long as possible. But being only a hope.. he's not sure if the hidden infection bomb will even be swayed.

Raphael tries to keep any possibility of a close friendship as far away as possible. He knows what his destiny is and doesn't want to pull anyone under with him. This causes him to come off cold sometimes, but he is really acting out of genuine love and concern.

Raphael has an obsession with storms. He respects the pure power in them and loves the feeling of an on-coming storm. If one was to catch him with the smallest of smiles, it would be when he is in a storm.

History

Quaint Beginnings: It was a simple yet beautiful love that started it all. Upon her daily checkups a lovely young mare met the dashing wounded stallion. He had gotten into a fight with an infected, though having been able to escape he had some rather nasty cuts and slashes on him. He always preferred an Aura to never waste their gift on him as he found the nurses quite apt at their job. The chestnut stallion was known for being a shameless flirt, but the moment he laid eyes on the beautiful pale mare he knew he would never give a second thought to another.
It didn't take long for the fair young nurse to take notice of him and his "accidents" that so happened to only happen when she was available for assistance. It was no surprise to the others when the two announced their marriage. It was a very happy time, the two were quite obviously deeply in love.

Lil' Gold Nugget: After about a year it became known that Anna was laden with foal, the lovely mare seeming to become radiant in her perspective new motherhood, Vance standing proudly right along side her. Their precious "Lil' Gold Nugget" was born to them on a warm eve, even the darkness of the blood stained sky above couldn't damper the love and happiness the small family felt at that moment.
It had been decided that the golden colt's name would be Raphael.. a fitting name, though his ever present nickname "Nugget" wasn't forgotten. Raphael started his childhood happy, never really knowing any pain or hurt. He always enjoyed spending one on one time with each of his family, though he thoroughly loved watching his mother work.. healing and helping others always intrigued him. His father taught him to be a strong lead figure, always steady in his decisions and fair in his thoughts with others. His grandmother taught him patience and loyalty, her gentle ways influenced his behavior greatly. His grandfather taught him respect and strength of character. All in all he was growing into a fine young stallion.

Sudden Calling: At the time of his seventh year of life, Raphael had been noticing small odd changes within him, but never said anything cause nothing had proven evident enough for him to tell his family, but one day he was training with his father and he slid and cut himself on a sharp edge of glass. Only a few streaks of blood ran down his leg before the wound sealed itself. Raphael looked up to his father in disbelief as the two realized what had just happened. Raphael's energetic outlook on life changed rather drastically to a more serious view on things. The previously talkative colt became more reserved and quiet. This worried his family greatly, though none of them could get the old rambunctious Raphael back, but they each continued to give their love and support. Despite this the golden stallion still showed some emotions and love to his family and his family only... but that was to be taken away from him.

Twist of Cruel Fate: Everything had been going fine, he was happy with his love, he loved his family... but fate didn't care.. this world didn't care.. The infected beasts who killed everyone he held dearly didn't think twice about Anna being a sweet and kind nurse, Vance and his brave noble heart, or about the love his grandparents overflowed with. In his thirteenth year his family was slaughtered by a small group of infected. Raphael had been staying with a friend of his when this happened. Many said the colt's heart froze cold that moment his wide golden eyes took in the scene.
