His chest pulled in a long breath ... it held there for an instant ... then released in a deep murmur that caressed her skin ... straight through her ... tingling her very soul ... she stirred just then, quite pleased and cozy in his arms ... he had begun to hum softly, the tone and timbre of his breaths a quicksilver chant moving slowly over her ... she opened her eyes to face him ... he was sleeping still ... this was a dreamstate in which she was warmly wrapped ...

Severus drew her closer ... Hermione buried her cheek into his chest ... His scent made her inhale deeply a breath of her own ... she began to reel ... the sound of him reverberating through her was intoxicating ... his song unfamiliar ... peculiar ... yet pure bliss to her senses ... he drew another low breath then continued to hum until it was spent ... then nothing ... He was still as the shadows and the night ... her eyes shot open ... he was looking at her, a curious stare on his face ...

"Please ... don't ever leave me ..." he whispered into her hair ...

Hermione watched as his eyes glaze over ...

"We two are one ..."

She sung this softly to him using the last notes of his nightmusic in turn upon him ...
