Programs Used: Adobe Photoshop CS2 and Corel Painter 11
I have NEVER done any kind of coloring like this... so this was a great [yet frustrating] experience!

Stats/Story:
Created of light, clay and breath, Shen Wei-Shi was a gift to the wheel of transmigration from the gods. Despite her brittle form caused by her creation materials, she is empowered with simple gifts from the five elementals. Spirit flames from fire, protective gold decor from metal, peach branch for her lantern handle from wood, siren call (for spirits) from water, and lastly the ability to glide over the world by earth. Combined, these powers help her with her duty: guiding spirits of the dead to the wheel of transmigration to be reborn.
Each night, she visits graveyards and sights of mass death, gathering the souls of the dead to her with the aid of her lantern, lit by her spirit fire, and amber incense. Over the course of each night, she begins to become surrounded by the souls until she brings them to the wheel at dawn. Due to this, humans who see her often misinterpret her as a soul stealing demon. Some mortals go as far as to exorcise her. Yet this only goes as far as to disorient her, as she lacks demonic orgin.
But if Shen herself should come across an evil spirit or being, she attempts to banish it with the peach branch supporting her lantern. If successful, the being is banished from the location. Otherwise, Shen may end up scattering the souls she had been collecting for that night. It's a unique and demanding job, but she wouldn't have it any other way.

Name: Shen Wei-Shi (Spirit Guardian)

Creation Date: Shortly after that of the Wheel of Transmigration

Purpose: Gathering and transportation of dead souls

Powers: Siren Call, Spirit Fire, Gliding

Weakness: Water and Dawn (As one of her creation materials was clay, parts of her can break off if hit by high pressure water. If this happens, she needs aid being remolded. And as for the Dawn, the spirits she has gathered begin to drain her at this time as they only appear at night)

Items: Lantern, East-facing peach tree branch, Gold decor (allows her to temporarily stand still water [no waves] to gather souls from ship-wrecks and such)

Likes: Cloud cover (blocks the moon and makes her harder for humans to see), gentle music, konpeito candy

Dislikes: Water, Dawn, Being seen, Humans who are disrespectful to her or the dead

Misc Info: Gentle demeanor, serious about her job, smells of amber incense, and seems to 'glow' in the light due to the minerals in the clay she was constructed of
