Reminds me of the Abyss I've been treading about in a Russian book. It exists beyond God or the Absolute. And if you want the full story: Russia, the country and its people, is just one manifestation of Russia the Idea, which exists next to God in order to bring Him into contact with the Abyss, which He can't achieve Himself because of His inner perfection. Those who by birth happen to be Russians are a part of this, whether they want to or not. The rest of us, non-Russians that is, are basically redundant entities. The book was a bestseller in Russia a few years ago. And (much to my surprise) many seem to actually take it seriously. Collective psychosis of the highest level.

The book is called Россия вечная (Eternal Russia), by Юрий Мамлеев (Yuri Mamleev). It is full of what looks to me like quasi-Vedism and hopelessly shady references. Mamleev is a huge fan of Heinrich Himmler's little SS department called Ahnenerbe, which was mainly concerned with uncovering the full historic glory of the Aryan "race". His National-Communist buddy Alexander Dugin shares his fascination, but has been careful enough to delete all traces of his admiration for German and Italian fascists after declaring himself a "Kremlin adviser". Both absolutely adore some Italian fascist ideologist who left Italy for Germany because he felt that Mussolini "wasn't fascist enough" (can't remember the guy's name, he's really creepy). The book has only been published in Russian unfortunately, and I doubt it will ever be translated into any other language.
