Description
UPDATE March 2006This is the cover image for OLOGY magazine issue #9.
What to tell you about this...hmmm.
Well, it is motivated by the usual considerations, the technological as it shapes culture, and also by personal experience.
The title is a tribute to more pulp-culture but don't worry about that right now.
This work straddles the line between tipping the hat to the Op Art movement and lowbrow parlor tricks, digitally speaking.
I did incorporate the technique with reason to reinforce the significance... not merely to be coy or gimmicky.
3-D glasses recommended. [The blue (L) - red (R) kind]
For those of you equipped with them, I invite you to look just a little deeper.
This is all just PS paint/drawing.
Thanks for viewing!

Ha, thanks. I've been out of it lately but its good to have the input. Did you have a chance to view it with the 3-D glasses?

It is definitely very cool with the 3D glasses.
There's something about the shadow on the right side....
I should try looking at this after looking at one of those spinning pinwheels that make everything else warp after staring at them for a while.
eh - it warped a little bit, but the biggest difference was still between having and not having 3D glasses.

Fortunately I still have the 3-D glasses from my old Grand Funk "Shining On" album. I knew they would come in handy someday

Kick ass. I always keep some on hand. It is fun to work with them on sometimes, but then there are the headaches...

That is very strange. Today I was giving a presentation regarding multimedia design and we'd joked about there being cake for some reason or another. How serendipitous.

You are turning very electronic, like looking at the internal parts of magnetic field.
Sorry, I don't have the glasses!

That is a good question. I had the glasses so I put them on while I was making the artwork.
I started to get a headache but decided to make parts of the image 3-D.
It was pretty fun really.

Hey cool glad to have the input. That disorientation is in part what I wanted to get from this... describing the colors and shapes that are not representable with visual rendering techniques. Kind of a fool's errand but to indicate that is enough I suppose.

Otherwise it will not work as well.

you are correct, that and the concave glass, for viewing large paintings in a small room.
