Bill thought about Greta often. Her marketing department had been such a pain in his ass ever since she was promoted, and she had personally killed an entire line of toys he designed. But Bill didn’t hold grudges; he just made meticulous plans, learned the arcane arts, and devised the perfect spell just for her.

After all that, tricking her into putting on the helmet was easy.

It was delightful putting Greta in the wind-up car and crash her into a wall, watching her spring-loaded limbs fly across his studio. Or reassemble her with different parts from other crash test dummies and vehicles. Or just put her on a very high shelf, in a display case, where she could watch and not cancel his beloved projects.

Except, somehow, she managed to drive her crash test car away when he wasn’t looking. Bill later reviewed security camera footage, and it was a miraculous thing, watching her race through the hallways, until she met a spectacular, limb exploding end just outside of the warehouse.

She had been found by a quite helpful warehouse employee, who reassembled her, and. even more helpfully, packaged her. Greta, once a major marketing executive of one of the largest toy conglomerates in the world, got sent along to occupy some random shelf in a random toy store. She probably screamed for help the entire time.

Bill often wondered where Greta had gone since that day. He hoped that she was property of some kid who had endless fun crashing her into walls and reassembling her.

Maybe Bill did hold a grudge, after all.
