Status Report: It’s been fourteen days since The Incident, and it’s time to go home. I’ve checked and triple checked my calculations. The pod has been repaired as much as it can be. There’s nothing left to do but push the button.

Well, there is one last thing. Say goodbye.

Becoming The Child’s Living Doll has been an experience I never could have imagined, let alone imagine falling in love with. And I do love it. My mind goes totally blank whenever I get picked up and played with. I’m not even a character in a story, just an object used to bring imagination to life. I feel more like toys in the box than the giants who move us.

I thought about leaving while The Child was at school, to avoid the goodbye. But then I thought about how she would feel coming home to an empty dollhouse, and it became clear I had to wait for her return. We’ll have one last playtime, then it’s into the Pod and heading home.

Though I do have a lingering doubt. What if she asks that I stay? While The Child has been nothing but supportive and helpful to my endeavors, I know she would love to keep me. And it has been part of my job these past two weeks to make her happy. Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that.
