I was hoping to see what you did with the material on this piece. It looks sooo realistic but thats just the light and material being used. You got any pointers, Cause I can't create realistic steel like that.

black diffuse, white reflect, set the refl.glossiness to .6-.8, .1 or .2 anistropy

it was pretty simple tho, basic studio setup [link] like this tutorial, just i used a cube with some cuts across it instead of a cylinder because the cylinder can get some bad smoothing in the middle..
my lighting is just a bit darker, (linear color mapping) with 3 vray plane lights 1 above and two to the right side .. one a little closer to the front..
the material is just black diffuse, white reflect about .85 roughness 14 subdivs no interpolation

i know in c4d ther ei s plugin with which this can be achieved. it's called deform along spline, what did you use?

spacing tool in 3dsmax... c4d has so many great plugins for stuff like this

Looks pretty good, you've done well.
Just downloaded, that's almost cheating I was expecting a whole heap of different segments, guess you pulled off the 'illusion' really well
