Description
Finally had a chance to work on another en-human villain for the SCU, and this one is a powerhouse. Meet Samar Singh, a former employee of Talon Corp, who's body is now composed of pure dark matter. This happened when his team was tasked with studying a strange, alien device, that was discovered in the wreckage of Jawdack's ship (the alien criminal that Voo'Han pursued to Earth). The device had been damaged from the crash and as such, became unstable. Most of his team managed to escape, but Samar was in a position where he could not escape in time before the device exploded, his body consumed by the dark matter that had been stored in the device. After the incident, his body was never found, and eventually, he was declared deceased by both the company and the authorities. However, strange energy fluxes began to flare up in different parts
of the city, until eventually, a dark, humanoid shape appeared in a park that was close to Talon Corp, it was at that moment when Samar was no more, and Void was born. Void's motive for becoming a villain is still in the works, but to put it simply, he is desperately trying to find a way to become human once more, and when someone that powerful is that desperate, other villains could see this as an opportunity to manipulate him into doing their dirty work, in exchange for a cure for his condition, even if it means coming to blows with the Sentinels.
Void is arguably one of the most powerful characters in the SCU. He possesses the ability to manipulate dark matter in a variety of ways. This was a tricky power to lock down, not only because it's extremely powerful, but I try to find a good blend between fiction and science. Since dark matter in real life is "invisible", I decided to make it visible for the sake of the story and the character. One of the ways he can use this power, aside from the typical blasts and beam attacks, is that he can create constructs from dark matter (a good visual example would be Green Lanterns) with the only limit being that he understood the mechanics of the construct he was making. He can also manipulate the dark matter that makes up his body as well, allowing him to grow and shrink, change his density, and even make copies of himself. With this power, Void is capable of taking on the entire Sentinel Corps team all on his own. However, while he possesses near godlike power, he is far from invincible. His first major flaw is that, manipulating dark matter can taxing on his mind, as it is the only thing that is keeping his dark matter body together. Overuse of these powers could put too much strain on his mind and cause his body to disperse, requiring him to reform once more. Which brings me to Void's biggest weakness, his mind itself. Samar is a good person at heart, he does not want to hurt anyone, but he can't bear to live as a mass of dark matter. His lingering morals prevent him from taking innocent life, and as such, inhibits his true potential. His mind also affects his body in other ways as well, such as feeling pain as a human would, despite his body being made of dark energy now. To put it simply, while his mind keeps his body together, it also acts as an inhibitor.
