I think focusing on his self esteem be good like maybe Pearl suggest he learn to use a sword and gets discouraged when he sees Connie is better at it and is younger where as Lars being his first lesson is terrible Steven try and explain Connie has been training for over a year but Lars is still upset and runs off and maybe another homeworld gem comes to get Steven disarming Connie and or injuring her leaving Lars to take up Rose sword and fight poofing the gem and deciding he can do it
