Description
Image drawn by Kojiro-BrushardBeen a long time coming, but the latest reference sheet for the diminutive Dr. Charlotte Jekyll. A master in the craft of Alchemy, though she may seem to fairly harmless almost adorable, her breadth of formula and reagents makes her quite formidable. Fortunately she concentrate her main time and effort in find a way to cure the Hyde formula that was unleashed upon the world by her ancestor. Yet her expertise is in high demand, so to offset this demand she took to using alchemical copies of herself to handle multiple tasks and duties at once. A potential side-effect of this excessive usage might have stunt her growth and development a bit.

She's a cutie in both forms. So is she aware of her time as Cheryl? Or does just black out, as the other personality takes over?

She gets rather diluted imagery and notions about what happened as Cheryl since the consciousness as Hyde is way too intense for normal to fully take in there.

One of her whole aim is to be utterly adorable. Though always question whether how much to show her with normal glasses or reflective one.

I like Charlotte's personality and she's cute. Also interesting that she's an alchemist as well as a scientist since chemistry (my field) was built up from alchemy. I remember Ernest Rutherford's response to Fredrick Soddy when they discovered nuclear transmutation. "For Christ's sake, Soddy, don't call it transmutation. They'll have our heads as alchemists!"

She is a little darling. Though yeah, there is a whole mythos going on with the Hyde matters for it. Plus Scientist at least gives her some official credentials to use since alchemy is still generally frowned upon.

A science demonstration I like to use is turning copper to silver then gold. I always introduce it as alchemy. You take a shiny, new copper penny and put it in a boiling solution of sodium hydroxide and zinc powder. Lay the penny on the zinc for a few seconds and it turns into silver. Then rinse the penny off in water, dry it and put it in the flame for a few seconds, it turns into gold! Then explain what is really going on. The zinc is plating onto the copper penny making it look like silver. Then when you put it in the flame, the zinc melts and fuses with the copper forming brass, which looks gold.
I can see alchemy linked to the Hyde phenomenon since alchemy was part philosophical working into the inner being/spirit. And even cosmological with beliefs of the planets. I suspect silver being linked in there with relation to the moon (luna).

Yup, the whole aggressive approach with the Hyde propagation and development is a counter-development seeking to achieve the similar level of heightened state that much of contemporary hermetic tradition of alchemy seeks.

Ah yes, the balance in the body and nature. Since Charlotte's original goal was to expunge the negative aspects of the human condition (heightened state of being), the Hyde is a counter-balance to fill in the removed component. And as with all homeostasis mechanisms, they always tip more towards the other end before stabilizing, hence why the Hyde is a stronger version of the negative aspects. However, the Hyde is a more of a positive feedback due to the effects of the sense of excitement and pleasure, the most basest emotions of the human nature. The spirit will seek out that pleasure once more, leading to the addiction and degradation of the spirit.

Yup, and there are those who wish to explore to what extent can this descent into potential depravity can bring. What sort of insight or epiphany can be brought forth from such an unshackled mind and freedom of expression.
