I hadn't either until my brother-in-law had pointed them out to us. These might be more common in Kentucky, since I've never seen these in Minnesota.

i haven't seen anything like it in colorado (yet) tho i have seen some odd spiders

I remember a few unique spiders near RMNP and other parts of Colorado I'd never seen before. I'd imagine the southwestern parts would have some interesting insects! Thankfully, here in Minnesota the cold keeps away the larger/poisonous creepy-crawlers. Kentucky however is another matter, where it's not unusual to see black widows or the occasional brown recluse.

ah, black widows (fascinating looking, spooky) i think i've seen a few recluses too (not that i go hunting for poisonous spiders... lol)
