Description NB: Upon request, though mainly for personal use (and hopefully growth), I created some NOTES for my creative process here: sta.sh/0rkknflumoc

I finally finished the this beast, DL to see full resolution!  This piece is really busy...took me two-and-a-half nights to complete (whether due to restarts , or realizing I'd forgotten something).  Blargh...haha!  Took a while to tweak the colors/lighting/brightness on the various levels.  I was the most conscious about the panel transitions, so they weren't too obvious.  I'm going to have to figure out the various filters to bring out textures (in armor and such) at some point!

Having said all that...I do believe this work has every squadmate ever...regardless of whether they'd be alive/present to see the full roster.  Even temporary squaddies and allies make the appearances in the background, if nothing else.  This wallpaper is made for 3 screen setups, so hopefully the dimensions work accordingly.  Now to go back to learning more model programs, or continue to work on the comic.

But first, I'll go watch an anime or something...I need a break, lol!

did you composite this together or render it? cause as epic as it is, it looks flat cause its missing some shadows and a little depth of field, still it is impressive

Posed in XPS for the most part.  Tried using shadows, but until I start creating my own backgrounds, the effect is less than stellar.  However, I then took the rendered transparencies and laid them over the background, so it wasn't a solid piece, hence the depth of field issue.  The real problem is the varying depth of fields b/c I rendered three different images and blended them.  I then used the Burn tool to create shadows where I could, so it hopefully looks better than the unaltered version, but after 3 nights of working on it, I just felt like posting it, lol!

But thanks for the critique, glad you like it!

Thanks!  Took me 3 nights, but it turned out pretty well, I think!  Now I'll have to learn how to create my own backdrops, as well as improve textures in PS and/or render in 3DS Max.

Sounds like a lot to learn! It'll be fun though. I can't wait until I get to start seeing your own backdrops!

Lol thanks!  Yeah, this piece was a bit of beautiful chaos, as it were!  Creating my own backgrounds will be the next step, hopefully!  Doing multiple screen pieces like this is just nearly impossible otherwise.  I ended up searching until I found backgrounds that seemed to fit, and even then I had to bash it together for quite a while!  The transitions were a bear to deal with as well; and I'm still not entirely happy with the base above Ash's head, nor the tower above Tali's.  If I can get a handle on rigging EVERYTHING myself, it'll be a real game-changer!

Looking at the pieces, it seems like one might use generic wallpapers in tandem with the various furniture and buildings (and trees, etc) available for XPS to create scenes.  Is there any particular resource group/site you preferred?  I already looked at some of those links you sent me (nach77 's stuff is awesome!).  It seems like there are also some models that open up to allow internal shots (like shuttles and dropships).  As I said before, I have new-found respect for all the work and concentration you must expend to create your work!  Moreover, I was running into problems where my system would run out of memory b/c the scene was so busy, lol!  Granted, I was trying to save at 300-400% for the sake of extra clarity, but there you are...

Can't imagine what XPS would have made of it if I'd generated this scene in real-time with ALL those models in place!  As always, thanks again!  Glad you liked it!

Hey your welcome
Yes i know XNA can be annoying sometimes with alot of characters and stuff loaded in (thats only downside for me). Im having 16gb ram and still not enough sometimes xd When i make huge scenes i usually load characters and build scene then do everything else in PS (like trees, beaches, bushes etc ). Did i say i LOVE PS? haha
Well about models i usually just type in google what im looking for and download things that i need atm (i got mostly all models downloaded that exists XD). Theres alot of great people who have models on DA but really depends what u looking for. Like for example as u said nach77 got eveyrthing u need if u looking for weapons and vehicles. Theres many more really

Thanks! Yea sometimes im at end with nerves when something goes wrong xD but thats like 1% of my time when i work. Mostly i hate bluring stuff in PS cuz its long process, other things are great t do
Ill try to make journal as soon as i have some time abbout my PS work

Have a great day!

Looking forward to it!  Yeah, I'm slowly growing to love PS more and more.  It took me a few tutorials to understand how to properly overlay glare and other such transparencies.  I actually generated generic renders for use in the background on this piece, and relied on PS to make it all work, lol.  Sooo much easier to "do it in post," as it were, when memory becomes an issue, haha!  Thanks again!
