this scenario never happened to me but i did encounter a wandering devil jho when i was on a quest to kill or capture a royal ludroth. also the devil jho is more of a hassle than anything else to fight due to it's size and tail height from the ground.

The first time I fought Jho we intentionally used the Peco to summon it so we could fight it early. We captured it after a few tries.

It's different, I have seen pictures of Deviljo and I know that I will eventually have to face him, but this was my first time seeing a Rathian up-close and personal and I never knew it was THAT BIG!

Well, asides from its appearance, I'm sure other things will surprise you about Jho, like how fast he is, the breadth of his attacks, and how much it hurts when you're being eaten, haha.
But yeah, I agree about Rathian. She's actually my favorite monster to fight in Tri, I think.

I remember making my party intentionally fight Jho when I first hit HR. After several tries, we managed to capture it. I was still using LR armor, lol.

When me and a friend of mine (only two of us) first encountered Deviljho, it only took the both of us the first hit till I said "Okay, we're going home. Not gonna fight you again until at least I got a Jinouga HR armor, nope nope. =/"
