I'd like to see a little more detail in the background like there is in the figure and surrounding landscape, but it still looks great.

It actually started out as a design for a t-shirt, which meant backgroundless, but then I got into it too much. I tried a few sketches of backgrounds on it, but none seemed to fit, and they detracted from the simplicity of the image.

I think the colours could be more redish ( danger) or more blueish at the top ( harmonic) and then shift to redish colours

Well, basicaly, the colour theme I was going for was cools at the top, and reds at the bottom, like, he's going from easy and calm, into like.. turmoil and whatnot.
