Description So, there is basically no Season Finale that can ever that of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic's second season. It was amazing! And as I feel I have spent a little time without posting anything, I did this simple tribute to the love of these two(Which seems to be stronger than the power of a goddess(I totally lost respect for Celestia after that)). Anyway, hope you guys dig it!
P.s. Done in PS CS5

I don't know about you but I probably spent more time on the wings than any other individual part when I did mine. That damned gradient.

Serginh In reply to anitech [2012-04-25 01:49:08 +0000 UTC]

Oh, gradients sure are annoying, but my biggest problem was hiding the horn and the crown, i dont like the way I did it, feels so messy.

anitech In reply to Serginh [2012-04-25 03:47:39 +0000 UTC]

That part's easy. Just use masking. In PS it's called "Subtract from Shape Area". Watch this video on doing eyes. The masking part at 12:55 works on any shape you want to remove a part of. [link]

This technique is awesome! Hey, as we are having this conversation, do you think you could tell me how to make the mane go behind the ear?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

anitech In reply to Serginh [2012-04-25 04:14:54 +0000 UTC]

Well the most common way is to put the ear in a separate group from the other body strokes and place it above the group for the mane.

The way I see it, Chrysalis is to the Changelings as Celestia is to the ponies, godlike in her own right, within her own sphere of influence. So, at the height of her powers, it's not that hard to believe she might overcome Celestia, whose powers are probably more geared towards constructive purposes than offensive magic.
I think way, way too much about all this.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Serginh In reply to JoeEngland [2012-04-23 22:05:29 +0000 UTC]

You are right in thinking that way, my friend! Its interesting how you pointed out Celestia's constructive powers, maybe we can say her destructive powers are in the elements of harmony?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JoeEngland In reply to Serginh [2012-04-24 00:44:24 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, as I see it, her power revolves around promoting growth, nurturance, and guidance. And really, her greatest tool has always been her wisdom, not her raw strength. Reading between the lines indicates that she probably orchestrated everything from the founding of Ponyville by the Everfree Forest to Twilight Sparkle's personal evolution, all in order to handle her sister's resurgence.
Furthermore, she was able to anticipate the spirit of pure chaos well enough to directly counter his demoralization of Twilight Sparkle almost to the hour. And really, that's what the modern notion of a God is meant to do. Show their people the way, rather than fight their battles for them.
For all I know, she even took a fall during that fight, just so that Cadance and the others would be forced to rise to the occasion. I wouldn't put it past her to be trying to wean her subjects off of their dependance on her. But I know that's a stretch.
Besides, even losing a fight with a monster queen, she's still powerful enough to raise the sun and moon single-hoofedly, and immortal to boot. Remember, Chrysalis didn't kill her, even when she had the advantage. This indicates several possibilities, two in particular... First, that she knew that it was necessary to keep Celestia alive, perhaps since only she could maintain the crucial balance which keeps the world in check, something well beyond even the Changeling Queen's abilities. Or, second, that she was unable to kill Celestia, who, for all we know, may be truly immortal.
And even if she is, in fact, vulnerable, I'm reminded of that scene from "The Last Airbender," with the fish, and... and the...
Y'know, I'll skip that point. That movie doesn't deserve it.
I'll mention, though, that I'm even forming a theory that "Queen Chrysalis" might have been another split personality taking hold of Luna. I mean, did we ever see them in the same place...?
Alright, I think I've been talking too long.

OMG! My mind has been blown! You sir, are the best MLP conspiracy theorist ever! I support all of your points!

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

JoeEngland In reply to Serginh [2012-04-24 20:44:32 +0000 UTC]

...And, y'know, now that I think about it... addendum to my rant... maybe Celestia DOES have access to vast, destructive powers. But to actually use those powers she'd have to take on a darker aspect, like what happened with Luna. Maybe that's how Nightmare Moon was able to overpower Celestia, forcing her to use the Elements at first and later sending her to the sun. It's a Jedi/Sith sort of deal. Celestia couldn't use her full power against Chrysalis because she'd become some kind of maniacal extrovert and burn the castle down with her insane fiery wrath. The real offensive capabilities of alicorns can't be utilized without compromising their natures as benevolent entities. That makes sense, right?

and I hate to be one of those spoilsports, but i don't know why people think Celestia likes to banish everyone to the moon either. Just because she did it once... (yes I am aware of "bananas"... but that was not canon, it was fanon XD)
