Description
Apophysis 7X - PhotoshopAfter not using art programs for years, this is my first Apo7 (hence the title). Not very original by now, but I like these patterns and overall look.
Ironically, Apo7X seems to be at a dead end and I just began with it

Seems like I hadn't forgotten Apo completely during all those years. I was quite happy with this.
Thank you dearly Sabine!

Welcome as always, Sergio!
I never got any good with apo, I was only messing around. Did like to write scripts though :}

Curious you and the prog didn't get along well and at the same time, you liked writing scripts. Really like Apo's interface and working with it.Β At some point, could even draw with those triangles. No sliders, which I hate!

I got to tech oriented with apo I guess. Messed around with pre- and post-transforms and finals before I ever got to grips with the basics LOL Could do the julias and stuff, but it was never a love-affair like with mb3d. So now I have a splendid collection of apo christmas balls and a script that renders a 3D animation or shows sort of an 3d animation in the little preview window, stuff like that. Mind you, I never got apo X7 working on my computer, but the 3dhack was perfect Now mb3d is so different, I want to know ALL there is to know about it...
Good thing I LOVE sliders ;}

Having fun with Apo is the first thing to do before getting technical. Wondering why X7 didn't work in your computer. With some ups and downs, never had much issues with any version. 3DHack was deemed by some as being bugged. I used for a very short while, deleted it an ran a full system scan. Nothing was found
I'm now in a period of disenchantment with MB3D. One of these days, I might get mad and stop using it, not being fun anymore. Really aiming at something else artistically...

X7 would hang on me everytime I would open the transform window. Invalid memory access. Only to be killed again through task manager. I was on the google apophysis developers group for this and I am not the only one. But since the programmer cannot reproduce, no action can be taken. Ran the 3DHack for years, no virusscan or malware-scanner ever gave any cause for concern.
Some years ago I just got fed up with apo, just like what seems to happen with you and mb3d now. Whether you will leave mb3d for what it is or not, you won't leave DA, will you?

Yes, something like this happened to me every once and then. Don't remember how I sorted it out, but didn't give me much trouble afterwards. Same this side about Apo, got fed up too. It's a great program, but had this feeling that I had to move on to superior forms of art...or progs
Think I joined DA early in November 2005. However, active time has been something more than 2 years only. This included a long 6 years absence. I might take some breaks and post every now and then. It depends on my inspiration which is blocked for the time being.
The only thing that prevents me from vanishing once more are some great dear friends like you. So, don't worry and thank you dearly for your concern

Sabine62 In reply to SergioKodemo [2015-06-28 08:18:24 +0000 UTC]
Inspiration is always tricky. I am good at the moment but until 2 weeks ago or so I was in a dip. Comes and goes and with me it ususally lasts a months or 6 weeks and then all turns upside down and I can't get done anything decent done
But, the pong with Jan helps! I need a challenge to get things going, it seems, keep myself on my toes. (A tip for you, maybe?) And what also helps: I am terminally nosey, when I am without inspiration, I go finding out how stuff works (and come up with HEARTS!!! and VL in boxes ) With me that is a sure sign of artistic boredom

SergioKodemo In reply to Sabine62 [2015-06-28 16:35:50 +0000 UTC]
Had several invitations to do Pongs, but due to my crazy schedules...or absence of them can't commit. Ok, I could take some of the so many published parms, but found it difficult to work on something already done by someone else. Seems like I'm condemned like Prometheus, only this time by reinventing the wheel over and over again
for all your brilliant last sentence!

Tweaking is not the same as a pong in the way if feels for me... I often try to tweak and then in most cases I get caught in some sort of listlessness: nothing goes right, but then it does not have to, no one is waiting on a nice reply... I really am at my best under a little bit of pressure (not too much or all systems through their anchors... full stop )Β So a pong without time pressure is just the thing for me.
For when you are retired (in 30 years or so ) I hereby invite you for a nice lazy pong :}

I understand and agree with your good approach. Much healthier! As from here is where we probably depart. I'm always working under pressure from myself, too over demanding. Better don't think about how many promising designs I deleted...hundreds. It doesn't happen with Bryce though I have a fair share of frustrations too. No doubt I'm more inclined to an artisans work rather than moving sliders and introducing numbers. MB3D is great and fascinating, but I hated it so much it became personal. Just HAD to get something out of it!
I accept your invitation with great pleasure, no matter my retirement age will come so much sooner

Ohhh but when you start to hate a program (like I did with apo) you will get only frustrated. I think it's best to leave it alone... Well, until you retire of course :}

You are probably right, but I'm stubborn. Born to suffer! When I retire and move out from where I live, it will be fun again. Very lazy relaxed Pongs with a dear friend, I like that!

and this awakening is very cool, like a colored air-conditioner - goodmorning, sergio!... ;-}

Thanks for the nice AND refreshing comment!
Apophysis is a very good program indeed. It came as a different approach to fractals at the time Fractal Explorer and Ultra Fractal were the most commonly used programs.

Merci beacoup! I like Apo7 too, but still prefer the Apo2 series. It renders better and in much shorter times. It will be nice when Apo3 is finally released. It's a very improved Apo2, having less things in common with Apo7, which is a different development.

Same here. The development is slow and we are awaiting for it to be released sometime. Here you can find what's cooking [link]
As far as I know, Piotr was one of the original Apo developers (Apo7 has a different developer), and has resumed the project. Hope this is of interest to you.
Best regards!

Thanks my friend for the great comment. I did a revisit of this design a short time ago, but a bit reluctant to upload it. This one can be generally appealing, while the revisit is more intense and personal. We'll see.

Very nice indeed with super colours and loads of energy. I gave up on APO a year or so ago because its rendering time is so long for a decent size image to have printed.

Thank you very much John. Your words are very appreciated. You are right, render times are close to obscene.
I rescued a DVD that included my old Apo2 parameters. I'll be uploading some of them soon. Renders were way shorter! Guess the future is the very promising Apo3, which is being slowly developed. A lot of artists are awaiting patiently for its release.

Thank you Jens for your courtesy, truly appreciated. There's no need to welcome every time. I know it's a time consuming effort, and our time is valuable to do other things.
If you want to know more, please check on . You will probably need a translator, but it's worth.
