Description
I revamped the design a bit but the story written here is more or less the same.I tried to make Myun look more like he belonged in the anime by tracing a picture of Dawn (with some important tweaks) but I don't know how well that worked. Mewon behind him is completely original.

Myun's first day of school is a Monday, the day Ash discovers the school. The class consists of Lana, Kiawe, Lillie, Sophocles, and Mallow, as well as Hau and twins Sally (Selene) and Eliot (Elio). Hau tried to field questions for Myun, saying he was extremely socially anxious, but their classmates cannot contain their enthusiasm.
The next day, Tuesday, Ash joins the class, making it 10 students and taking some of the pressure and attention off of Myun, who is very thankful to have the spotlight removed from his so quickly. As Ash is introduced, Kiawe questions were Topu Koko could've gotten a Z-Ring to give to Ash and Hau says he'll ask his grandpa, Island Kahuna Hala! Later at lunch, the old students happily announce that, with two new students rather than one, they should have a double introduction party, planned for the coming weekend! Most of the games will require a trainer and pokemon to work together as a team so they'll have to get a pokemon for Myun so he can participate, which makes Myun uncomfortable, but there's no time to dwell on it; Topu Koko is here! It challenges Ash to a battle, in which Ash uses an electric Z-Move he isn't ready for and the crystal disintegrates. Back in class, the students ask if they can go catch pokemon tomorrow and Professor Kukui allows it. Later that night, Myun talks to Hala and Hau about his misgivings; capturing pokemon against their will, forcing them into a life of slavery, constantly fighting for their lives for the entertainment of others… It really rubbed him the wrong way. They alley his fears as best they can but Myun just can’t let the thought go.
On Wednesday, Rotomdex is introduced to the class. Myun is still uncomfortable with catching Pokémon but the class goes out to try anyway. Ash, of course, is excited to catch his first Alolan Pokémon but has little luck. Team Skull will generally be replacing Team Rocket as the resident Bad Guys, so they might do something here. The kids decide to take a break at the nearby Pokemon Center and Myun reintroduces himself to Nurse Joy, being careful to tell her what's going on with him without letting on to the other students.
Thursday morning, Ash and Mallow have an adventure before school trying to catch a Rowlet, saving a flock of the Pikipek-line from Team Skull in the process. They tell the class about it at school, showing off Rowlet too. Hau brings out his own Dartrix and Myun has mixed feelings; it sounded like Rowlet joined Ash of its own free will but he still felt uncomfortable. Ash is asked what he's gonna nickname Rowlet and is introduced to the Alolan tradition of nicknaming pokemon. Kukui decides to have an impromptu lesson about Alolan Traditions: Pokemon Nicknames, instead of the history lesson he had planned. By giving a pokemon a nickname, it is watched over by others who had that name before them and gives the pokemon individuality; everyone introduces their pokemon's nicknames. Ash says he wants to think about it; he's never had a nicknamed pokemon before and isn't sure how he feels about it. Their regular pokemon names were always good enough before. After school, Myun takes a walk and finds an abandoned shiny Rattata in critical condition, rushing it to the Pokemon Center. The Rattata tells him that it's from a different island, caught for its different coloration, but released here after it was deemed too weak to ever be useful. It was then rejected and attacked by the local Rattata as an outsider until Myun found it. Myun refuses to leave the Rattata's side while it recovers.
Myun Skips school on Friday, missing the adventures of Popplio saving the day from the Team Skull Pirates but gets a play-by-play of it afterwards. Everyone goes to check on him after school and Myun accidentally reveals he can understand pokemon, begging them to keep his secret; Hau covers him by saying it’s part of why Myun had to suddenly move to Alola. Despite their curiosity, the students understand that Myun really doesn’t wanna talk about it.
Saturday has everyone preparing for the Welcome Party and Sophocles gets stuck in the locked down Supermarket with Ash. Team Skull had accidentally caused the lockdown while trying to take the security offline and are promptly beaten by Ash and Sophocles. Myun still refused to leave Rattata's side, not until it's completely healed but Nurse Joy releases Rattata into Myun's custody, on the promise that Myun will help it rest until tomorrow when it can be released. If it wants to, that is; Nurse Joy winked at the pair before they left.
Sunday night is the Welcome Party and Rattata says it wants to go with Myun as his partner. He's been so patient and kind and attentive, everything its previous trainer was not; Rattata would be honored to be Myun's first pokemon. Everyone is thrilled that Myun got a pokemon and is convinced to pick a name for it, eventually settling on Razz, since it's colored like the berry.

Monday is a normal day at school, as Ash is lamenting the loss of his sandwich to Litten and both Ash and Myun are told about Litten's behavior. After school, Myun was volunteering at the Pokemon Center when Ash brings the injured Litten in for treatment. The pair manage to keep Litten in the Center well into the night, Ash refusing to leave its side. Myun can't help but think of how he wouldn't leave Razz and stays too. Litten eventually escapes with Ash and Myun hot on its trail, following it to an old, abandoned house with an old, abandoned Stoutland. An Alolan Persian that has it out for Litten starts to attack the house but, after a short scuffle, Litten manages to scare it away with a powerful Ember. Myun was initially put off by the idea of Ash forcefully catching Litten for selfish reasons and is relieved that Ash didn’t follow through, leaving Litten be.
Tuesday's class introduces a pair of pokemon eggs, one white and one orange, for the class to look after. Through general consensus, Lillie gets one and Myun gets the other, to help both with psychological issues they’ve been struggling with. Ash goes with Lillie to her mansion and is introduced to the Reformed Team Rocket Trio (collectively called The TRio) and Lillie protects the egg from a wild Salandit. Meanwhile, Myun almost immediately becomes extremely protective of the egg now in his care.
After school on Wednesday, Ash goes home with Hau and Myun to ask Kahuna Hala about Z-Rings and Z-Crystals and is introduced to the problem of the out-of-control Rattata and Raticate population. After Ash leaves to contemplate, Myun suggests finding out why they have changed their habits and Hala confirms that that is a good long-term solution, but they have to do something about the immediate problem first.
Ash is still puzzling over the problem at school on Thursday and his classmates help him figure out what to do; call on the Totem Gumshoos to fend them off! After meeting with Hala again, Ash is pointed in the right direction and Myun expresses further concern about the short-sighted nature of this solution. Why were they here? Where will they go? Won’t they just come right back? He is assured by Hala once again that they could focus on a more permanent solution once the immediate problem was handled, since it might take more time and research to figure out. He certainly wouldn't mind if Myun wanted to help him find that solution, as a form of his own Island Challenge. With the immediate threat taken care of, Ash agrees to fight Kahuna Hala to finish his trial and Myun observes how Ash fights alongside his pokemon rather than using them as weapons.
Friday is a normal day for the students but Ash decides to go to Kiawe's farm to see what he does outside of school.
Early Saturday morning, Kiawe and Ash are delivering milk until they are interrupted by Team Skull.
Sunday - new adventure? maybe involving Litten getting to know Ash/his pokemon better?

Monday at school was basically a beach day, as the kids were supposed to observe pokemon in nature and write about them. Lillie reveals she's been calling the egg "Snowy" and Myun decides to call his "Sunny" to match. The TRio is also accompanying Lillie and have a heart to heart with Ash, who is still trying to reconcile the change in them. As everyone leaves for the day, the TRio get roped into Marinie's whole arc (condensed into one episode) and it goes off with its senpai at the end of the day (instead of being caught). Meanwhile, after school, Ash learns about the Great Pancake Race next weekend and begins training for it all week. Ash also notices Kukui's Rockruff going out at night and coming back injured several days this week.
The eggs hatch Tuesday, exactly one week after they were received, revealing Snowy the Alolan Vulpix and Sunny the Kantonian Vulpix! Sunny recognizes Myun as the voice who was speaking to it and immediately jumps into his arms. Myun is given a pokeball to catch Sunny and while Myun hesitates, Sunny makes the choice for him by catching itself. Myun has mixed feelings about this. Snowy recognizes Lillie as well but Lillie can't seem to touch Snowy anymore. Disappointed by her "relapse", Lillie goes for a walk around town and gets jumped by Team Skull, who are just looking for someone to bully. Lillie has to touch Snowy to save it from a fall, who are then both saved by Ash and Mallow, and henceforth Lillie has no issue touching Snowy! While Lillie went off to face her own demons, Myun struggles with his pokeball issue by taking a long walk in the woods. After much discussion, Razz decides that, despite its previous experience with a trainer, it wants to be caught too and Myun is mostly ok with the outcome, if still slightly unsettled.
Wednesday after school, Ash was hanging out with Lana and Mallow, cheering on Popplio's training with balloon bubbles. Pikachu gets caught in one and is promptly blown away by a stiff breeze. Former Rocket Meowth is taking a walk when he's suddenly caught in the bubble too and both are whisked away by another stiff breeze. The two scuffle a bit until the balloon pops and both are dropped unceremoniously on some Team Skull members. The pair flee but are chased by Team Skull, as they decided to catch the intruders; when they realize that Meowth can talk, they want it even more. Pikachu does not trust Meowth but starts to change its mind as Meowth helps defend Pikachu from Team Skull and keeps trying to get it back to Ash. As they continue to fight and run, Rowlet spots them and leads Ash to them, but not before the pair are cornered by Team Skull, exhausted and losing ground. They dodge and parry a few pokeballs before Pikachu trips, a pokeball headed right for him, before Meowth shoves him out of the way, taking the hit instead. While Meowth is struggling to get out of the pokeball, Pikachu recovers and breaks it, allowing Meowth to escape; he thanks Pikachu, saying that was a little too close for comfort. About this time Ash shows up, along with Lana and Mallow, and the trainers demolish Team Skull, who were also tired from the chase. Pikachu leaps into Ash's arms and Meowth runs over and hugs his leg too, stating "I ain’t never been so happy to see ya, twerp!" Meowth mentions that the sun is setting and it's a long way back to the mansion. He's scared he might run into Team Skull again, only this time, by himself; can he go home with Ash for now? Ash has mixed feelings about this but, at Pikachu's behest, decides to trust Meowth this one time. They call Lillie when they get back to Kukui's house and everyone at the mansion is revealed, having been worried when Meowth didn't return before sunset.
Ash brings Meowth to school the next day, Thursday, and Meowth immediately rushes to Lillie's side, rubbing on the chair legs and being very careful to not touch her directly. Ash notices this and it helps solidify Meowth turning good in Ash's mind. School continues as usual and both Jessie and James pick up Lillie after school, smothering Meowth with affection as it tells them about its adventure on the way home. Later that night, Kukui, Ash and Pikachu finally follow Rockruff to Clawmark Hill, just to witness it get pummeled by a Magmar before returning home.
Friday morning, Ash gets up bright and early to help Rockruff train while Pikachu practices balance for the upcoming race. Ash is forced to go to school but immediately comes back to help Rockruff train afterwards. Kiawe followed him and helps them train against an actual fire type, and Rockruff learns to dodge and use Rock Throw before going back to Clawmark Hill that night. It challenges the Magmar again, and is seemingly praised by the two Lycanroc when it wins.
At dawn Saturday morning, Rockruff agrees to fight Ash and Pikachu, ending up being captured. Having been out all night, Ash, Kukui, and all the pokemon nap until at least noon. They then get up to fit in some last-minute training for the big race tomorrow.
Sunday is the big day of the Pancake race! Ash and Pikachu compete of course, along with Lana/Popplio, Kiawe/Turtinator, Mallow/Bounsweet, Sophocles/Togedemaru, and Principal Oak/Komala, as well as Sally/Minccino, Eliot/Houndour, Jessie/Wabuffet, and James/Ponyta (galaran). Team Skull also enters and cause a scene when their cheating backfires spectacularly, allowing Komala to win in the confusion. Kukui sits with Myun and Lillie, both holding their respective Vulpixes, and Meowth gets jealous, worming his way onto Kukui's lap instead. That night, Ash, Kukui and Rotomdex watch "Alolan Detective Laki" before finally going to bed.

Monday morning, Ash is getting ready for school when he realizes he can't find his Electrium-Z and starts freaking out. He tells some of his classmates who mention Kiawe will be super disappointed in Ash for losing something so precious and they all agree to lie to him while "Alolan Detective Rotomdex" and its assistant Pikachu go find the Crystal. Shenanigans ensue, revealing that Myun was the coolest under pressure, partially because he's used to lying to everyone. Sally and Eliot, pranksters that they are, nearly expose Ash, only to help cover for him by distracting Kiawe for a while. Everyone takes turns either distracting Kiawe or looking with Ash, until he accidentally reveals the secret himself when asking Rotomdex what they found out about his missing Electrium-Z. Kiawe is furious, of course, but his anger is eased slightly when he finds Myun actually laughing at their antics. It's the happiest any of them have ever seen him. After school, Mallow went shopping and found a merchant selling some yellow nectar at a premium price. She can't afford it but is inspired anyways, deciding to substitute Pikachu's Thunderbolt for her restaurant’s famous Alolan Stew, inviting all of her friends for dinner to try it. It's a bit too electric but otherwise tasty, and everyone goes home for the night.
Tuesday at school, Mallow complains about the yellow nectar being out of season, but going nuts knowing it must be out there somewhere if someone was selling it! Both Myun and Ash agree to help her; Myun has spent a lot of time in the woods around Melemele Island since he arrived and Ash just wants to go exploring, it'd be a great adventure! Everyone else is busy with other responsibilities so Mallow happily accepts their help. After school, they try to find the merchant again, to see if he's willing to tell them anything, but he's nowhere to be found. The trio then head out to look for themselves, getting to know each other better but unable to find the nectar. They eventually follow an Oricorio to a hidden grotto with the yellow nectar flowers, only to find the merchant and some associates (possibly Team Skull?) destroying the grotto and flowers to extract more yellow nectar! After a rough battle, during which Bounsweet evolves into Steenee, the bad guys are chased away and the three fix as much of the damage as they can. Mallow decides to keep the grotto a secret, for now. She makes some Alolan Stew for everyone and assures them that it'll still be their seasonal dish, as she doesn't want to disturb the grotto any more than it already has been. For now. Myun starts to appreciate Ash as more than just a battle hungry trainer.
Wednesday is normal at school and Sophocles invites Ash to his place to run some tests, leading to a Breakthrough for Sophocles. Meowth, having been hanging out with Litten a lot, and Stoutland by extension, manages convinces the pair to relocate to the mansion garden, especially as Stoutland's health begins to tank; Meowth recognized the old pokemon wouldn't last much longer and at least wanted its final days to be comfortable and happy.
Thursday, at school, Sophocles is telling the others about his breakthrough when they are interrupted by Topu Koko challenging Ash and Pikachu once again. Pikachu is eventually thrown off a cliff, Ash diving after it, and Topu Koko saving them both just in time. With the fight declared a draw, Topu Koko leaves them until next time.
Friday is a normal day at school, which Myun decides to take advantage of; the last four weeks have been a mess of nonstop adventures. Ash might spot Meowth and Litten paling around together but only out of the corner of his eye so he isn't sure. His first impulse is that Meowth is corrupting Litten but remembers how much Meowth had changed. He has mixed feelings about this.
Saturday is declared a shopping spree by the girls. Sally drags Eliot around and Myun doesn't mind tagging along, quite taken by the shiny accessories; Kiawe dips, Hau and Sophocles manages to excuse themselves, and Ash decides to visit a nearby deserted island instead. Myun notes its location for later but the girls are thrilled that at least one of the boys likes shopping with them and absolutely dote on him, since he doesn't really have any money. Myun is unused to such positivity but manages to accept it. Eliot is not quiet about how unhappy he is to be here but decides to keep it to himself after he realizes how much fun Myun is having. After an encounter with Topu Lele on the island, Ash heads home for the night. Myun sneaks out and flies back to the island, basking in the peace as he stargazes. While contemplating, a thought crosses his mind that he can't let go of; who is he really? At the labs, he was Mewon the test subject, here he's been Myun the human student more often than not, but without either of those, "just who am I?" The fact that he can't answer that question bothers him.
On Sunday, Ash decided to visit Lillie and try to get more used to the idea of the TRio being good guys when Litten runs up in a tizzy and Meowth translates its panic to be about Stoutland's health! They rush Stoutland to the Pokemon Center, where Myun happened to be volunteering once again, and stay until nightfall. The pair of wild pokemon leave when everyone is asleep, hiding under a bridge with an old couch; the place Meowth had convinced them to leave a few days ago. It was closer than Lillie’s mansion and more familiar. Stoutland continues to try teaching Litten Fire Fang until it falls asleep and Litten curls up next to it. Stoutland is gone when Litten awakes; it looks everywhere before returning under the bridge just in time to witness the old couch break. It begins to rain as Litten mourns and Meowth, having figured they would return here, stays under the bridge with Litten, knowing any comfort would be rejected right now but wanting to be a steady presence anyways. Ash and Kukui, who followed Meowth, stop by with some food, which Meowth accepts but Litten rejects. Meowth relates some of his experiences with Litten and Stoutland to Ash. Everyone had fallen asleep by the time the rain stops and Litten wakes up to a sunbeam in its face, seeing a rainbow and a cloud formation that resembles Stoutland. Meowth was woken by Litten's movements and stands next to Litten. Litten asks if it's ok to move on so quickly but Meowth counters that Stoutland wouldn't have wanted Litten to be sad forever. Meowth also says that Litten should consider going with Ash; Meowth has known the twerp for a while and he’s really good at bring out a pokemon’s inner strength. If Litten is serious about getting stronger, the twerp is the way to go. Ash, woken by the talking, is touched Meowth would say such a thing and Meowth gets embarrassed, deciding to head out but sticks around the corner to watch anyways. Litten challenges Ash to a fight and is eventually captured.

Monday after school, Ash and Kiawe are trying to help Litten master Fire Fang while their other pokemon relax and play. A Sandyghast appears and gets angry when its shovel is accidentally knocked off, evolving into Pallosand in its rage. With Ash trapped inside and Rotomdex stuck on top, things are looking bad as the commotion catches Myun's attention; he felt the immense anger of Pallosand and figured someone could in danger. He was rushing over before he really thought about it. Upon arrival, Myun is quickly caught up on the situation and reaches out telepathically but recoils from Pallosand's rage. Myun then makes a snap decision to overpower Pallosand's mind, forcing it to freeze and release its captives so they can all start looking for the shovel. Myun keeps its mind captive until the shovel is found and carefully returned to it, letting it go in peace after its rage is quelled. Immediate threat dealt with, Myun has to reveal that he's psychic; that's how he can understand pokemon, by reading their minds. He once again begs them to keep his secret; he doesn't want his new friends to see him as a freak. They agree but assure Myun his friends would still stand by him, just like Ash and Kiawe are now. While reassured, Myun still doesn't feel comfortable telling everyone just yet; he's getting there, though, slowly but surely.
Tuesday is the school's Family Visit Day and Ash has to give a presentation. Many introductions happen, including Jessie and James standing in as Lillie's "parents". "Ash" gives his presentation, which turned out to be Rotom but, encouraged by everyone, Ash starts to talk about his journey in Alola, his new Pokémon, and how he enjoys everyone's support. Myun raises his hand and asks Ash something more specific about pokemon variants and (with a little help from Rotomdex's projection feature) Ash is able to answer, not only confidently, but with excitement! Seeing this, Kukui encourages them all to ask more specific questions and assures Ash that saying “I don’t know” is an adequate and perfectly honest answer, because admitting you don’t know something means you are capable of learning something new! This continues until the bell rings, signaling the next activity. Elsewhere on campus, Team Skull decide to crash the party by releasing and riding the school's Tauros. Ash is about to step in when his mom beats him to the punch, asking Litten to fight with her. Ash decides to fight a triple battle with his mom, taking out Pikachu and Rockruff as well. While the Ketchums fight Team Skull, the other students are busy getting everyone to safety and rounding up the Tauros. Ash eventually blows Team Skull away with a Gigavolt Havok and everyone agrees to help clean up the rest of the damage before the planned events continue. Myun has mixed feelings; he knows he could’ve easily fixed the problem himself but that would give away his secret. It worked out this time but what about next time?
On Wednesday, having seen a Z-Move up close, the TRio ask Lillie about it, who tells them about how you need a Crystal, a ring, and a Pokémon with a move that matches the crystal’s type; but even if they have all of that, the Crystal will shatter like Ash’s first Electrium-Z if they haven’t “earned the right” to use Z Moves via Island Challenge. So they talk to Hala about having a trial, reveal some of their past and how it still affects them, and he decides they must face a series of tests to see if they can learn and grow or if they really are stuck in their old ways. Ash (who joined them at Lillie’s request) mentions they were always coming up with new and interesting ways to try to steal Pikachu, even though none of them worked in the end, and Hala says that the TRio’s first test is to find a Z-Crystal in the wild and bring it back, using whatever skills they had learned in Team Rocket. Ash tags along to observe the TRio in action, to help cement their change in his mind; he is strictly there to observe, though, not help or hinder. While using a device to track down a Z-Crystal, they run into Team Skull and a race is on to claim the Darkinium-Z the TRio discovered! The TRio get to show off their new pokemon to Ash; Jessie has her old reliable Wobbuffet, a gold Spearow called Pyrite, and a recently acquired Salandit named Amethyst, traded for her Seviper; James has Growlie the Growlithe, though it's getting old and tired, and Sugar, a strange Ponyta said to come from a far-off region of Galar, another regional variant. Ash didn't realize there were variants in regions besides Alola; he barely remembers seeing it at the race but he was too focused for it to really register. The two Teams continue to battle it out between each other and the Totem Ratticate with increasingly hilarious shenanigans until Meowth eventually claims ownership of the Darkinium-Z. Jessie and James allow it while Team Skull skulks off in defeat. After Ash regales them with a play-by-play of what happened, Hala is impressed with the TRio's tenacity, innovation, and teamwork. While they now have a Crystal the still need a Ring to use it and Hala doesn't have any available at the moment; Topu Koko stole his last one to give to Ash and he hasn’t found any Sparkling Stones since. That will be their next task; to find some Z-Ring Ore. That night, Sophocles is led to believe that his family is moving very far away and panics.
Thursday at school, Sophocles tries to deny that anything is wrong but by the end of the school day they convince him to confess. Kiawe takes Sophocles to see his favorite hot springs on Wela Volcano. After being dropped off at home, Sophocles is thinking of something to give Kiawe as a thank you, when his parents reveal that they're only renting a house a few doors down for a week while the roof is being repaired.
Friday brings more guilt as Lana takes Sophocles for a Lapras ride after school, showing him a Wailord breaching the water with the sunset behind it. Ash decides to get Sophocles an electric pokemon as a going away present. Myun realizes that he would actually miss Sophocles if he left, if any of his new friends left! He's allowed himself to become more attached to them than he had initially planned but can't bear the thought of pulling away from them either. Thus, Myun begins preparing himself to trust them with his secrets.
Saturday is the going away party and Sophocles keeps getting interrupted as he tries to confess the truth. Finally, after catching the Charjabug Ash found for him, Sophocles can't take it anymore and bursts into tears, confessing everything and everyone expresses their relief. Now they can all go to the Dug-Leo concert tonight guilt free! The concert is fun, but afterwards an Alolan Diglet steals Rotomdex's Alolan Detective Laki wig, running off with it. They eventually find themselves backstage where Leo reveals that he and Kukui used to know each other. While they catch up, Diglet reappears and sings an audition to join the band and is happily accepted, Kukui gifting Rotomdex's wig to it, promising Rotomdex he’ll replace the wig later.
The next day, Sunday, as Leo and Dugtrio practice with Diglet for the first time, Dugtrio gets jealous of the attention Diglet is receiving and starts trying to outdo itself, forgetting that harmonies are its strong suit. Dugtrio runs off in a huff and Leo calls on Kukui to help find it, and he brings the rest of the class into the search; they have to keep the missing star under wraps or the fans might start a riot or something. Dugtrio is eventually found being bullied by Team Skull and a battle ensues (I can't decide who should find them). As reward for their help, the whole class gets backstage passes for the second night of concert and Dug-Leo introduces the newest band member, Diglet!

Monday at school, the students are discussing rumors of a strong trainer with an Umbreon and a Midnight Lycanroc and Ash is lucky enough to run into him after school. Lillie also finds the trainer, revealing him to be her older brother Gladion! Gladion refuses to go home and considers battling Ash, seeing as he got a Z-Ring from Topu Koko itself. Back at Lillie's mansion, she tells Ash about how Gladion left to train, lamenting that he has changed a lot since then. The TRio mention that that's what they were hired for; to bring some much-needed life back to the mansion. As much as they appreciate their jobs, they still think that Gladion is kind of a jerk for leaving Lillie all alone like that. Late that night, Gladion invites Ash to battle on the beach via note. The TRio had snuck Lillie out to confront Gladion but hide to watch the fight instead. They are revealed via stray attacks and Gladion calls it a draw, saying he doesn't want to fight with Lillie watching. Gladion then tells Ash to get a Rockium-Z at Akala Island so they can have a fair rematch.
Tuesday brings a Baseball star to the Pokemon School and they have a grand ol' time. Jessie had dropped Lillie off that day and had noticed the hunky athlete, deciding to stay a bit longer to watch. Team Skull comes along and challenges the "home team" and shenanigans ensue. Myun discovers he has a bit of a competitive streak if he lets himself get into it. This could be dangerous for his cover but he can’t deny he enjoyed the thrill of the “fight”.
Wednesday at school is all about roughing it and the class is given an assignment to go camping and write a report about what they learned and how they used their training to survive. After school, they split into two groups via drawing lots; Ash, Kiawe, Sophocles, Mallow, and Lana are one group while Lillie, Hau, Sally, Eliot, and Myun are on the other. Before they split up, Lana scares them all with a story about how, when people enter the forest, they tend to fall asleep for no good reason and without any idea that it is happening. When they awake, they are just skin and bones, like they haven't eaten in ages. Mallow says that it is just one of Lana's jokes, but a rustling sound ends up scaring Mallow and Lillie, only for it to be revealed as Pikachu. They all have a nervous laugh and go their separate ways. Ash and his group have “fun” with the Morelull while Myun’s group bond and Myun reveals that he’s psychic to Lillie, Sally, and Eliot, telling them how Ash and Kiawe found out and that he plans to tell Sophocles, Lana, and Mallow when they come back together tomorrow. Hau is super proud of Myun and mentions he can only tell so many people at a time due to his social anxiety.
Thursday morning, both groups pack up camp and come together to go back to school. Ash’s group tells them all about the Morelull and Myun takes Sophocles, Mallow, and Lana aside to tell them his secret as well. Now that the whole class knows, they ask Myun to demonstrate what amounts to party tricks and he confirms that his psychic powers include telepathy and telekinesis, which is more than he planned to reveal but he got caught up in everyone’s positive reactions and praise. Upon returning to school, they are given some time to work on their reports while Myun brings Kukui into the loop about his psychic powers.
Friday they are introduced to a partner swap over the weekend. The switched parties are Ash/Pikachu and Lillie/Snowy, Lana/Popplio and Hau/Dartrix, Sophocles/Togedemaru and Eliot/Pikipek, Kiawe/Turtinator and Sally/Stufful, and finally Mallow/Steenee and Myun/Rattata. Lillie does her best to be able to touch Pikachu and eventually succeeds. Ash gets Snowy to warm up to him and trains it a little. Lana is unable to keep her little sisters away from Dartrix. Hau wins Popplio’s heart through its stomach. Sophocles fails to do science with Pikipek but it does sing him to sleep. Eliot and Togedemaru have finally found someone who can keep up with them so they play until they pass out. Kiawe is unsure how to use Stufful on the farm until he realizes how strong it is. Sally gives Turtinator a makeover but has to adapt her usual style to fit its natural ruggedness. Mallow isn’t sure how to utilize Rattata in the restaurant until she discovers it has a very perceptive pallet. Myun asks Steenee what it wants to do and, upon seeing the house lived in by three guys, decides to clean up and add some feminine flare.
Fluff can occur over Saturday and Sunday.

Monday morning, everyone reconvenes and talks about how it went and Myun is asked to translate the experiences of the pokemon too. Shortly after that, Olivia arrives and takes the campus by storm until she is properly introduced as the Kahuna of Akala Island, here to personally accompany the students on their fieldtrip! While slightly clumsy, nobody can resist her charm and charisma; even the more cautious pokemon warm up to her immediately. Myun feels her aura too and starts to lower his guard but realizes what’s happening and has a mild panic attack, his anxious fear fighting her calming presence. While Litten’s story has her in tears, she notices Myun’s discomfort but decides to leave him be for now and talk to him one-on-one later. Olivia tells the class about Akala Island and its guardian, Topu Lele; Ash relates his story of witnessing its healing scales. They eventually get underway, the TRio acting as extra chaperones, and they all marvel at the beauty and variety of pokemon. They see some green colored Dragonair and Jessie is absolutely smitten! Sure, she always thought Dragonairs were pretty but the emerald coloring made them irresistible to her. They stop by some rocks to watch them closer and subtly allow Jessie the chance to catch one if she can. Olivia falls overboard but laughs it off, inviting the others to join her in the water. They eventually save a Wailmer from a Bruxish and Myun is ashamed that he hesitated to help another just because Olivia and the TRio were there. As they continue on to Akala, Olivia manages to corner Myun and he resists telling her about himself but eventually crumbles, telling her about his made up past and the telepathy and telekinesis. She says she realizes now why he was so nervous about telling her but praises him for being honest with her. They arrive on Akala Island and go to the Pokémon Center for the night where the group are greeted by Nurse Joy, Blissey and Comfey. This confuses the heck out of Myun, since she “felt” different than the Joy he knew and is introduced to the Joy Extended Family.
Tuesday class begins in Paniola Town where a Treasure Hunt is set for the students. Everyone picks a Stoutland to ride and the TRio decide to help Lillie be able to touch the calmest one available. It takes all morning but by lunch, they count up their treasures and Lana wins by a landslide with some Z-Ring Ore. However, they all agree Lillie is the real winner, as she carefully but confidently climbs aboard her Stoutland, to the amazement of her classmates. Myun had silently struggled the whole time with the thought of pokemon enslavement, despite reassurances from his Stoutland that it loves what it does. After lunch, they have some free time and almost everyone decides to go visit Kiawe’s farm, even though he promises he’ll put them to work. The TRio decide to try their own luck finding some Sparkling Stones while Lana and Ash decide to go fishing instead; Olivia points them to Brooklet Hill for a chance to meet a Totem pokemon. At the farm, most of the class is relaxing and playing around rather than helping Kiawe; after sampling some of the delicious products, Myun feels guilty and begins helping out instead. Kiawe asks why he isn’t using his telekinesis to help but Myun is concerned what Kiawe’s family will think. With Kiawe’s word that his family is trustworthy, Myun lets go of his tight control, allowing himself to take the psychic path. Kiawe’s family is impressed at how much Myun can accomplish and how easy he makes it look. Overwhelmed despite the positivity, Myun drops whatever he was holding, frozen in panic for a moment before bolting. Hau is hot on his trail while the other students spill what they know about Myun to help the family understand his reaction. Hau finally catches up to Myun, who has reverted back to Mewon in his absolute panic. Hau comforts Mewon until him calms down, reassuring him that the scientists are not going to find him; they can trust these people. Mewon eventually calms down enough to transform back into Myun, just in time as Kukui has come looking for them. Still slightly hiding behind Hau in shame, the three return to the group and everyone is worried about Myun’s reaction, which Hau does his best to deflect away from Myun, who decides to get back to work; doing something productive seemed like a good way to ground himself and start feeling normal again. Everyone eventually meets back up at the Pokemon Center and Lana jokes that she got the Waterium-Z by fighting a Mega Gyarados! Ash notes it isn’t really that far from the truth.
Wednesday is all about the Wela Fire Festival at Wela Volcano Park but before Ash can get Litten crowned, a wild Marowak steals the crown for itself! It flees with an incensed Kiawe at its heels, Ash not far behind; the adults need to calm the crowd or they’ll have a riot on their hands to boot. Kiawe faces the Marowak with Turtonator but they are handily beaten before Ash can catch up. They return to the Pokemon Center early, as the Festival can’t really continue without the Crown. Everyone with a fire pokemon is extra bummed and nobody really wants to do anything. After Turtonator is treated, Ash trains with Kiawe late into the night so they can figure out how to deal with speed. Myun finds them going at it and realizes how important the coming battle is for Kiawe, even though Mewon could easily defeat Marowak all on his own. Myun decides he’ll only step in if he has to, leaving it to Kiawe to finish.
Bright and early Thursday morning, Kiawe challenges Marowak to a rematch while everyone watches. Kiawe and Turonator win via Shell Smash and Marowak signals that it wants to be caught by Kiawe, as he had gained Marowak’s respect. The festival may now continue and Marowak gets its wish of being Crowned, the right way this time. Fun is had at the rest of the festival; thank goodness it was scheduled for several days!
Friday begins with a yell from Ash, who is super pumped to fight Olivia, only to be reminded that he has to complete the Trial first. They are split into teams of two and tasked with finding the special ingredients for Akala Island’s specialty: Akala Cury! Ash is paired with Mallow, who is given a secret task to observe Ash rather than actually help, as part of his Island Trial (unbeknownst to Ash, of course), and they eventually meet and beat the Lurantis Totem. Everyone else managed to get all of the ingredients collectively and a grand lunch is had by all. After lunch, everyone heads over to the Ruins of Life, where the Grand Trial will be held; a double battle against Kahuna Olivia! The battle is rough, Ash’s Rowlet and Rockruff against Olivia’s Probopass and Midday Lycanroc. In the end, Rockruff barely squeaks out a victory before collapsing as well. Everyone sleeps well that night, except for Rockruff who had accidentally attacked Rowlet during the fight. It can’t get the incident out of its head. It leaves, spotted by Pikachu who wakes Ash and they both go after it.
Friday night into Saturday morning, Rockruff is training by itself when Topu Lele shows up and Rockruff challenges it. They fight until Rockruff can’t get up. Ash interrupts their “fight” and gets bitten by Rockruff, who is in a blind rage. Reminded of the incident with Rowlet, Rockruff bolts with Ash and Pikachu in hot pursuit. As the sun rises, Ash returns empty handed and everyone agrees to help find Rockruff in their own ways. Olivia’s Midday Lycanroc and Gladion’s Midnight Lycanroc go find Rockruff on their own, finding it washed up on a riverbank at the same time. They take Rockruff to Topu Lele and it eventually heals Rockruff by using Draining Kiss on the two Lycanroc before leaving. As the sun sets, there is a flash of luminous green and Rockruff evolves into the never-before-seen Dusk Lycanroc!
Sunday is the end of their field trip as they all head back to Melemele Island. As they travel, Jessie mentions the green Dragonair and Dratini, expressing her burning desire to catch one. They happen to find another group of Dragonair that also happen to be by another rock formation and they all agree to have lunch and swim for a while. Just as they’re about to pack up and leave, Jessie finally catches herself an emerald Dratini, which she promptly names Emerald to keep with her semi-precious naming scheme. Kukui takes the chance to fit in a lesson about minor variations that aren’t significant enough to be called proper Regional Variants. Jessie pulls out her gold Spearow and James brings out his Galaran Ponyta to illustrate the difference.

Monday morning shows Ash bright eyed and bushy tailed, itching to try a new rock-type Z-Move but for some reason it fails every time the try it. Myun mentions that Lycanrock only just evolved so maybe it’s still getting used to its new power and proportions; Rockruff may have been able to use a rock Z-Move no problem, but maybe it hasn’t had enough experience as a Lycanrock to know how to control that kind of power. Kukui amends the lesson to work on new moves, and if they don’t have any, see if they can use their old moves in a new way. The TRio pick up Lillie together and Ash gits the idea to battle them again, just like old times! While nervous, they agree to a double battle with no substitutions; Jessie and James fight like one anyways so it should help give them an edge. Ash’s Lycanroc and Rowlet face off against Jessie’s Spearow and James’ Growlithe. Jessie and James fight surprisingly well but ultimately lose, though it is surprisingly close. Ash praises them for becoming better trainers now that they aren’t so focused on crime! The TRio get embarrassed about their past but Ash assures them he’s just teasing, since they are friends now. Ash decides to try Continental Crush one more time before heading home. Kiawe and Turonator agree to be the target and Lycanroc nearly loses it again but finally manages to pull it off! They all decide to visit the Pokemon Center, since Myun had planned on volunteering there again after school today.
Tuesday is a big day for Mallow’s family restaurant, since a news crew is doing a bit on the local hotspot. As her father gets a little too into the interview, Mallow gets overwhelmed and storms off, heading out into the forest to blow off some steam. She has an encounter with Oranguru, the Forest Teacher, and is eventually found by her friends. She makes up with her dad and all is well.
Wednesday at school, Popplio tried and failed a water-type Z-Move. Sophocles tells the class about Charjabug racing and, since he now has one, wants to enter this year’s race this weekend. Ash and Kiawe show the most interest and immediately agree to be Sophocles’ teammates. They go off to train right after school. Later that night, Lana witnesses Ida and her Brionne perform a perfect Hydro Voltex and Lana is smitten, announcing she will be Ida’s apprentice. Ida agrees to train with Lana and Popplio while Ida’s boyfriend, Kanoa, goes treasure hunting.
Thursday, both groups train in their own particular ways, cheered on by their classmates and Kukui allows them some extra free time for it. After school, Lana reconvenes with Ida and they keep training while Ash, Kiawe and Sophocles train with Charjabug some more. Kanoa comes back around sunset to say he’s gotten a secure lead on the treasure and invites everyone to join him on his search tomorrow.
Friday after school has everyone on Kanoa’s boat and the Team Skull Pirates crash the party, leading to a fight with a wild Dhemise! Lana and Popplio risk using Hydro Vortex and manage to pull it off. That night is Ida and Kanoa’s last night on Melemele and they all bid a fond farewell, hoping to see each other again soon.
Saturday is the big race and Sophocles eventually crosses the line with his Charjabug.
Sunday is spent preparing for another week-long fieldtrip, this time to Kanto!

Monday morning finds the class excitedly boarding a plane to Kanto, all except Myun who is trying desperately to not have a panic attack. Having discovered they are originally from Kanto as well, Lillie insisted that the TRio chaperone again, which Jassie and James are unsure about; they’ve been gone so long and what if Team Rocket finds out they are there? Will they retaliate? Upon arrival they are introduced to Brock and Misty, gym leader of Pewter City and Cerulean City respectively, and Ash’s first travel companions! They all head over to Oak Labs for a day of learning about Kanto pokemon and everyone lets out their own pokemon to have fun for a while, leading to more info about regional variants and minor variations, before helping take care of the pokemon at Oak Ranch. There are a lot of other Ranch Hands there, some of which seem suspicious. As everyone is looking for Marowak and Popplio, who got separated, Team Rocket attacks, attempting to steal all of the pokemon at Oak Ranch! The TRio cower, hoping not to be spotted by their former coworkers, and the day is eventually saved by Gary’s appearance! Gary teases Ash but they are much friendlier than they were during their initial rivalry.
Tuesday has them all traveling to the Cerulean City Gym to try out Gym Battles for themselves. Brock and Misty take turns fighting the Alolan students two on one. First up is Lana/Popplio and Mallow/Steenee against Misty/Psychuck. Next is Sopholcles/Togedemaru and Lillie/Snowy versus Brock/Geodude. Next is Hau/Dartrix and Myun/Sunny with Misty/Starmie. Last of the double battles is Sally/Stufful and Eliot/Pikipek on Brock/Ryhorn. For one-on-one battles, Kiawe/Turtonator and Brock/Steelix; Kiawe demonstrates a Z-Move but Brock wins with a Mega Evolution. Last but not least is Ash/Pikachu versus Misty/Gyarados. Despite Mega Evolving, Ash is eventually victorious, showing off his ingenuity during pokemon battles.
Wednesday is a bit of a race to see who can get to Safron City first; the biggest city in Kanto! They split into two teams, one with Kukui and Principal Oak while the other is “lead” by Jessie and James. They draw lots to see who gets to be on which team and Ash, of course, ends up with the TRio, along with Myun, Lillie, Sally, and Sophocles. This left Kiawe, Lana, Mallow, Eliot, and Hau with Kukui and Oak. This is how most trainers going for the gym challenge would have traveled; roughing it on foot. The teams split at the forest and bed down for the night.
Thursday is more traveling and things can happen. Myun accidentally reveals his psychic abilities to the TRio. Back in their old stomping grounds, the TRio are tempted to bring all of these Alolan pokemon to Giovanni but ultimately decide they like their new life too much to give it up; their life of crime is well and truly behind them now.
Friday, they arrive at Saffron City and crash at a nice hotel to be pampered until lunch before sight-seeing and deciding to visit the gym since they’re here. Sabrina recognizes Ash, who is still a little creeped out by her, even though she’s calmed down a lot since they first met. Sabrina also recognizes Myun for what he is but he begs her to keep his secret; he’s just not quite ready to tell them everything just yet. They watch a few battles while Ash gives them a play-by-play of what’s going through his mind as he analyzes each battle until he can’t take it anymore and challenges Sabrina; not for a badge, just for old time’s sake. Calling it a day, Sabrina takes them to her favorite restaurant before they head back to the hotel and get ready for the flight back home from Saffron.
Saturday is the trip back home, which gets delayed as Team Rocket attacks the Airport and Ash manages to send them “blasting off again!” This sends him on a nostalgia trip and the TRio are just happy they weren’t recognized. That night, Ash dreams of Solgaleo and Lunala.
And so begins season 2 of the Sun and Moon Anime
