Description

1. Faramon (Baby)

    a. Bubbles - Release a stream of bubbles from the mouth that pop upon contact and sting like mild acid

2. Huemon (in-Training)

    a. Star Burst - Releases small, yellow ‘stars’ that ‘snap’ on contact; more than a pop but less than an explosion

3. Kyaramon (Rookie)

    a. True Knife - Creates knives out of glowing red energy that can be thrown or wielded for melee attacks

        - Red Scar - Slashes the air with a summoned red energy knife, leaving a streak of red behind it that is then projected at the target

    b. Buttercup Ballet - Scatter shot range, releases golden petals in all directions as they spin, surrounded by a blue wind; the petals burn on contact and leave the affected area irritated. They can ‘float’ while spinning, increasing their jump distance

    c. Mercy Button - A yellow “button” with the word ‘MERCY’ written on it appears in front of them; when pressed, it dissolved into a green glow that is directed at a target, healing them

4. Riskimon (Champion)

    a. Red Blade - Generates an edged weapon of any size or shape; wielded as melee weapons or thrown as projectiles

    b. Karmic Equity - Fires a golden energy beam from a revolver with Gaster Blaster motifs; the wound continues to cause pain long after the initial strike

    c. Tangled Fate -

5. Deitermon (Ultimate)

    a. Soul Strike - Generates any kind of hand-held weapon, including firearms

    b. Karmic Condemnation

    c. Invincibility Frame - Upon being hit once, all subsequent attacks will phase through them for a short time

        - Passive INV Frame - They glow cyan and, so long as they don’t flinch, any attack will phase right through them

    d. Load State - Is able to ‘reverse’ time by a few seconds; only Deitermon and Serif will be aware that this has happened and remember those few seconds. They only have about 30 seconds in total per fight but it can be used in any combination

6. (Mega)

-

    ●        Most of the world is very much “kill or be killed” at the moment but ClavisAngemon is trying to go against the ‘natural order’ by creating a safe space. He usurped Primary Village and sends Tamers out to basically kill digimon (especially ‘problem’ digimon) and assign them to a Tamer once they reappear in Primary Village so they can be ‘rehabilitated’.

        ○        Alphamon and ClavisAngemon used to work together; Alphamon came up with the idea of taking over Primary Village to basically build an army while ClavisAngemon mostly wanted to support and nurture all digimon. Alphamon was against using human Servers as a ‘crutch’ to boost a digimon’s power and when ClavisAngemon went behind his back to do it anyways Alphamon abandoned him, reasoning that he was a fool to rely on anyone but himself.

    ●        One human will have one digimon as their main partner, with whom they will have a tight bond. They can also have looser bonds with multiple other digimon while training them but these bonds are temporary.

        ○        Server - a human partner; they ‘run programs’ for their digimon partners (for battle, training, and other activities) just like a computer server. They also ‘service’ their partner digimon by taking care of them. Colloquially called “Tamers” while “Server” is more technical.

        ○        Clients - any digimon partners, though there are several tier levels based on the strength of the bond between Server and Client.

            ■        Primary Client - the primary digimon partner of a Server, with a close bond that is not easily severed. This is usually only possible for the first digimon partner a human receives, as that digimon is essentially custom made for that human, but it is possible for another digimon to become close enough to their Server to reach this level. The bond is almost impossible to sever, even if both parties wanted to. (family)

            ■        Secondary Client - often raised from (re)birth by a Server but not always. The bond is difficult to sever but not impossible. (friend)

            ■        Tertiary Client - temporary digimon partners, with a loose bond that can be created or severed with relative ease. This is almost exclusively formed between Servers and stronger digimon or digimon who already have a Server, particularly if that Server happens to be absent. (acquaintance)

    ●        This could be useful for quests, so that the Server can run programs for the escort or other clients, like modify cards.

    ●        Humans can travel between the human and digital worlds but there are a few adults who have given up their life in the human world entirely and now live in the digital world full time. Digimon have to stay in the digital world, since the general human public doesn’t know about them yet, though there is no physical restriction.

        ○        Data Squad works in the Real World to keep digimon under wraps but they can come through like in Tamers. Data Squad has a truce/alliance with ClavisAngemon since their goals of a safe Digital World align.

        ○        Serif modifies the concept used in pokeballs, which utilizes inventory physics, in order to store his partner in his digivice so he can take them with him. The other scientists help and are ecstatic to introduce the new capability to the rest of the [tamers].

    ●        Digimon don’t have souls like humans or monsters do; they have cores, which contains their central programming and looks like a white disk with a colored circle in the center (like a thick CD). The colors seem to line up with the Crest colors rather than human soul colors Serif is used to. Serif can grab and manipulate a digimon’s core, just like any other soul, but it takes some trial and error to figure out the differences in magical fields. If a normal monster were to somehow arrive in the digital world, their souls would not be compatible with a partner Digimon, but Serif’s stolen human soul piece, along with the intrinsic similarities the skeleton souls of his universe have to human souls, is enough of a connection to receive a partner Digimon.

        ○        Red - Love

            ■        Nurturing, respect, support, protective, looking outwards, understanding of others, affection,

        ○        Orange - Courage

            ■        Overcoming fear, reckless, adventure seeking, combative, disregarding consequences,

        ○        Yellow - Hope

            ■        Optimism,

        ○        Green - Sincerity

            ■        Integrity, staying true to yourself, difficulty/distaste for lying,

        ○        Blue - Friendship

            ■        Loyalty, charisma?, bringing everyone together, encouraging, being able to lean on others, empathy, bringing out the best in others, delegate,

        ○        Purple - Knowledge

            ■        Curiosity, wonder, searching, exploring, pursuit of knowledge,

        ○        Lavender - Kindness

            ■        Sharing, generosity, selfless,

        ○        Pink - Light

            ■        Purity, innocence, seeing/bringing out the best in others,

        ○        Grey - Reliability

            ■        Steadfast, tenacity, prepared, stubborn,

    ●        ClavisAngemon needs some immediate subordinates

        ○        Light Fang – Glare and Ophanimon

        ○        Night Claw – Julia and ChaosGalantmon

Serif crash lands in a forest, dazed and weak but awake, and is still gathering his bearings when he hears a kid cry out for help. He rushes (somewhat unsteadily) towards the sound, swapping his empty gem for a charged one, and finds an Ogremon angrily attacking a kid holding some kind of... ball? Pillow? There’s no time for that; he needs to act, NOW! He shortcuts the kid right next to him, immediately grabbing their mouth to silence them, using Orgremon’s own attack as a smokescreen. Ogremon is bewildered at the sudden disappearance of his prey and Serif shortcuts a rock somewhere else to make some noise, sending the Ogremon raging in that direction. With the immediate threat gone, the kid starts thanking him but Serif slaps his hand back over the kid’s mouth, hissing that they aren’t out of the woods yet, and takes off as quietly as he can.

Once assured the danger has mostly passed, Serif introduces himself and agrees to take the kid somewhere safe, so long as the kid promises that Serif can rest there for a while, too; he was getting better at AU hopping, and the charged gems helped, but he still really needed to pass out for a few hours. He gleans what he can from the kid’s ramblings, including that her name is Ellie and that this was the first time she’d been to this area, not realizing how dangerous it was. The ‘pillow’ was also revealed to be some kind of young monster called Nyokimon, having degenerated during battle from damage taken. Serif makes a mental note to ask what that means when he’s not ready to pass out. They manage to get back to Primary Village before Serif collapses, unconscious.

~ Day 1 ~

Serif regains consciousness on a bed in a small room, with a nightstand beside him, holding a glass of water, a sandwich, and a note. Serif manages to sit up stiffly, forgetting to check if the sandwich is monster food before he starts eating it. It seems to function like monster food at least, and magic always feels a little different in every AU, but this feels a bit more different than he’s used to; another note to ask about later when he can think more clearly. He reads the note as he continues eating.

Greetings new friend,

Welcome to Union, a place for digimon to live in peace and harmony. The digital world is vast and cruel but here, at Union, we protect and support each other for the benefit of all. According to Ellie, you had no knowledge of this place and our philosophy before rescuing her from a potentially deadly situation. You have my unending gratitude for returning one of our Tamers to us unharmed, protecting her with seeming no thought of reward beyond a place to rest.

I wish to speak with you when you awaken and together we will find a place for you to belong here.

Sincerely,

ClavisAngemon

Armed with more questions than answers, Serif ventures out into Union, looking for ClavisAngemon as instructed.

After wandering around and being directed by some friendly digimon, Serif finally finds ClavisAngemon and they have a discussion. ClavisAngemon plays the benevolent ruler everyone keeps saying he is but Serif can tell he’s not being entirely honest; he preaches peace but is more than willing to kill for it. Serif is also concerned about how different digimon are from the monsters he’s used to in other AUs and is directed to the scientists of Union for more answers. ClavisAngemon is still convinced Serif is a digimon of some kind but doesn’t want to argue about something so trivial with a potential ally.

In the labs, Serif explains his origins, gets some basic questions answered, and gets scanned; it spits out some anomalous readings but he ultimately registers as something closer to human than digimon! Noting Serif’s negative reaction to this news, one of the science aids offers to take Serif on a walk through Primary Village to clear his head; if Serif really is closer to human than digimon, maybe he could connect with one of the digieggs, and if not than they could just assign him a partner. The two wander around while the aid introduces himself as Phil, older brother of the kid Serif saved earlier, and his digimon partner, Mamemon. Phil wanted to thank Serif personally but they’re interrupted when Serif freezes, sockets wide and dark. A glowing egg had formed itself in front of Serif, slowly descending into his arms, and he finds a digivice in one hand. Serif holds the egg close as he examines the digivice before looking back up at Phil.

“W h a t   t h e   f u c k   i s   g o i n g   o n ?”

Before Phil can answer, Serif’s breakdown is interrupted by the egg glowing again, hatching into a small, gold and brown colored digimon with an impassive expression. His empathy, however, was picking up a potent mix of fear and hope and anxiety and elation, giving way to concern over everything else. Belatedly realizing he was scaring the poor thing, Serif took a deep breath and shoved his own concerns onto the back burner; he’d look at them later. Right now, this new little life needed him to be calm and present.

“Heya, kiddo, my name is Serif. It’s nice to meet you.”

His new partner didn’t seem to want to speak, even though Phil assures Serif that even newly hatched digimon are capable of speech due to the reuse of data. They can scan the digimon to figure out what its name is but Serif declines; he’ll know his partner’s name as soon as they’re ready to tell him themself. Until then, pet names like “kid/kiddo” or “buddy” will suffice.

Informed that digimon Clients with human Servers tend to grow quickly until they stabilize at Rookie level, Serif returns to the dorm-like room he’d woken up in, allowed to stay there indefinitely just like the other permanent residents of Union. Unsure how much his new partner would understand, Serif begins to simply rant about his situation; it may not change anything but it might help him get his thoughts in order. Serif could barely get himself through the Void, let alone with a passenger, but he couldn’t just abandon his new partner, nor could he stay here with them; it wasn’t his home. The young digimon sat quietly through all of this, not really understanding the situation but instinctively wanting to help and comfort Serif.

~ Day 2 ~

The next day, Serif wakes to find his partner having changed shape and decides he really needs to learn more about the basics of digimon care; even if he doesn’t intend to stay indefinitely, he’s still going to be here for a while. He asks if his partner wants to tell him their name and once again must rely on his empathy to know that they’re uncomfortable with that; their face still doesn’t really emote. It’s alright, though, they’ll tell Serif when they’re ready.

He spends that morning studying until his partner begs for a break and Serif is informed that he has to complete quests just like any other Tamer. Though Serif is annoyed at the interruption, his partner is relieved that they can actually do something, as they were bored out of their mind. Since his highest level Digimon is still In-Training, the quests available to Serif are limited but by relying more on his own capabilities rather than his digimon partner’s, he has no trouble completing the quest quickly. He can also use this time to field test his new knowledge of the Digital World.

+ Quest 1 +

= Escort to find a special herb, also used as a tutorial for the digital world

== The kitchen staff always need more spices/herbs/foraged goods/etc so they always have various quests open, which is great for new or weaker Tamers

+ Quest 1 +

They return after completing the quest and Serif is pleasantly surprised by his partner’s strength, even at the In-Training stage, but mildly unsettled by their willingness to fight. Back in his room, he studies some questions brought up during the quest while his partner rests nearby.

~ Day 3 ~

The next day, Serif takes on another quest before meeting Ellie and Phil for lunch.

+ Quest 2 +

= Generic fetch quest, probably for the kitchen again

+ Quest 2 +

At lunch, Ellie’s partner has digivolved to Yokomon and Phil has a new partner, Keemon, who’d had a Tamer but was abandoned mid-fight while his Tamer fled. He was saved at the last second and returned to Union but understandably refused to go back to his old Tamer, who was punished for the abandonment. Phil had agreed to look after Keemon until they could find a suitable Tamer for him.

When asked why Ellie didn’t take him, she introduces the team system: Light Fang vs Night Claw. Implemented as a way to foster growth through friendly competition, there are perks and restrictions to being on a team, as well as being unaligned. As a scientist, Phil is neutral, but Ellie is Light Fang and thus is somewhat restricted in the types of digimon that would thrive under her care.

After lunch, they take on another quest that turns out to be much more difficult than anticipated but they succeed in the end.

+ Quest 3 +

= Retrieve stolen item(s) from Ogremon (the quest Ellie had botched and Serif saved her from)

== Equipment and modify cards are introduced

= Serif’s partner digivolves to Rookie

+ Quest 3 +

After the fight, Serif’s partner talks for the first time, though barely a whisper, and introduces themself as Kyaramon, revealing that their first and second forms were called Faramon and Huemon respectively. Trying to ignore the similarities to The Anomaly, Serif decides Kyara is a good name and generally refers to them as such no matter their form. Later that night, Serif reveals a bit more details about his past, if only to explain why he might flinch sometimes when he looks at them; he’s seeing someone else. It’s an explanation, not an excuse, and it’s something he’s working on.

~ Day 4 ~

+ Quest 4 +

= Generic fetch quest for the Kitchen

+ Quest 4 +

After lunch, a Biyomon comes to Serif in a panic, explains they’re Ellie’s partner (evolved again), and that Phil never came home last night. Ellie went to look for him while Biyomon stayed behind in case he showed up, but now Ellie has gone radio silent and Biyomon is freaking out! Biyomon knew splitting up was a bad idea but Ellie had seemed so confidant…

+ Quest 5 +

= Find Ellie, fight Dokugumon (strong champion, not Arukenimon)

= Kyaramon evolves to Riskimon during the fight, reverting afterwards

+ Quest 5 +

Successfully rescued, Serif agrees to look for Phil while Ellie stays at Union with Biyomon. Ellie says Phil was trying to find some rare element in the “Forbidden Land” and never returned. A nearby shady character says they have some info about the Forbidden Land if they do them a favor first. Serif requires a hint about the info, to make sure they really have it, before doing anything and the shady characters says “the Forbidden Land goes by another name. Oh, if only they could remember what it was~”

+ Quest 6 +

= Shady quest, maybe turns out silly/innocent?

+ Quest 6 +

Quest complete, the shady character says the “Forbidden Land” is also called Chrome Mine before it became forbidden. You can’t get there through normal means anymore; you need a special code key that the shady character doesn’t have. Pandamon was always good with geography, though, and might have it. After three quests, it’s too late to go anywhere today so they turn in for the night.

~ Day 5 ~

Bright and early, Serif and Ellie meet up and Serif goes off to find Pandamon.

+ Quest 7 +

= Find Pandamon, but he needs a favor before he’ll give you the code key.

== Platinum Sukamon (weak ultimate) borrowed an item from Pandamon but had returned a fake. Go rough him up and get the real item back.

= Riskimon wins the day with equipment and modify cards

+ Quest 7 +

Serif meets Ellie for lunch to catch her up before heading off again.

+ Quest 8 +

= Finally get to Chrome Mine, find Phil with Machinedramon, degenerate him, defeat Gigadramon (strong ultimate), get home in time for dinner

= Serif fights more here and loses control a bit, landing the killing blow himself

+ Quest 8 +

After getting tossed around by Machinedramon for a bit, Phil offers a trade; he’ll make Machinedramon stronger if he lets Serif and Riskimon go. Machinedramon accepts, becoming a tertiary Client of Phil, who inputs a chip that suddenly has the Mega level Machinedramon changing shape… into the Ultimate level Gigadramon! The fight continues and Gigadramon is eventually  defeated and Phil reveals he wasn’t exactly lying when he said it would make him stronger; Gigadramon would have been much stronger than the average Ultimate and would be a stronger Machinedramon once he digivolved again, but the immediate effect was a drop in power. Phil also assures Serif that Machinedramon isn’t really dead; his data should be forming an egg in Primary Village by now and should still be connected to Phil as a Client since the bond wasn’t severed.

(MetalKoromon, Kapurimon, Kokuwamon, Mekanorimon, Gigadramon, Machinedramon)

Finally home, safe and sound, Serif and Phil meet Ellie for dinner. By the time Phil had been saved, Keemon had Digivolved to Yaamon, who was absolutely smitten by the strength and battle prowess Serif (and Kyara, to a lesser extent) had shown while fighting Megadramon. Phil thinks Serif should take Yaamon as his second partner and ClavisAngemon agrees, having heard of Serif’s exploits during the past week; he was impressed with Serif’s skill as a Tamer and secretly a little afraid of his power, realizing it was likely on par with a Mega level Digimon like himself. ClavisAngemon recognized Serif as a powerful ally that he barely knew anything about; how could he keep Serif on his side if he didn’t know what Serif wanted?

That night, Serif tries to bring Yaamon up to speed on his origins but Yaamon has already passed out from the stress of being held captive for several days.

~ Day 6 ~

The next day, Serif tries again to introduce himself but Yaamon won’t talk about anything but how strong Serif is and how he wants to be strong too; nothing else matters but strength to get your way. This thinking unsettles Serif, who does his best going forward to teach Yaamon that Might doesn’t always make Right and that Kindness isn’t a weakness.

Deciding to take a break from higher level quests now that Phil was safe, Serif takes on some easier quests, letting Yaamon take point instead of just watching.

+ Quest 9 +

= Generic fetch quest for the Kitchen

+ Quest 9 +

Done by lunch, Yaamon complains about the easy quest but Serif doesn’t budge; he wanted to learn more about the digital world, which had been put on the back burner while trying to save Phil.

+ Quest 10 +

= Escort quest for a supply run into more dangerous territory

== Yaamon digivolves to Impmon

+ Quest 10 +

Impmon boasts that the harder quest helped him grow and while Serif doesn’t deny it, he insists that knowledge can be powerful too.

~ Day 7 ~

Eager to show off his new power, Impmon manages to convince Serif to take on a fighting-type quest and Serif decides to try to turn it into a lesson if he can.

+ Quest 11 +

= A family of Drimogemon moved into a mountain and are making it unstable. They’re tough and won’t listen to anyone.

+ Quest 11 +

During the quest, Serif was fighting the Drimogimon and had ordered both Impmon and Kyaramon to protect the bystanders. At some point, Kyara leaves their post to help Serif, resulting in Impmon and several bystanders being injured. Afterwards, Serif chews them out.

“Kyaramon! I gave you a direct order and you disobeyed me; both Impmon and several villagers were hurt because of your actions today. I know you were just worried about me, which is why I’m not more mad, but I need to know that I can trust you to follow orders; I won’t always have time to explain why the order is important, and it won’t always be obvious, but please trust that I know what I’m doing. I don’t like ordering others around but when I give a direct order like that, it’s for a reason, and I need to know that I can count on you to play your part. Do you understand, Kyara?” Unable to look up, Kyara nodded.

Lunch is provided by the villagers while Serif tries to teach Impmon.

Fighting the Drimogimon to make them stop seems to support Impmon’s views but Serif only used force to gain their respect and make them listen to his verbal arguments. If all he did was fight them, they would have nothing stopping them from going right back to their old ways once he left, but now that they understand why they need to do a thing, they will keep doing it (or not doing it) even without somebody breathing down their neck.

Warp Pads have been installed by Union in their allied areas but the one here isn’t working so, sensing something wrong, Serif decides to fly back with Kyara and Impmon in tow. Upon returning to Union, everything is in chaos; a virus had infected Union over lunch and most partnered digimon have degenerated back to Baby level and those that hadn’t were going nuts, destroying everything in a blind rage! Luckily they were all Champion level or lower after degenerating and Serif ordered Kyara and Impmon to work together to gather as many of the unconscious humans and digimon as they could so they didn’t get hurt, leaving Serif to fight on his own. His first target was an Angemon who was causing the most damage, eventually knocking him out since he was to enraged to be reasoned with.

+ Quest 12 + (sort of)

= Take out as many Mad Digimon as possible

+ Quest 12 +

By then, a few more Tamers who had been out for lunch finally made their way back to Union and helped subdue the rest of the mad digimon. Some of the more tech savvy humans managed to stop the virus and most of the remaining mad digimon lost consciousness as well. Angemon eventually woke and confirmed he is indeed ClavisAngemon and thanked Serif for keeping him from causing more damage to his beloved Union than had already been done. The machine that usually sends people back to the human world was damaged so everyone would be camping out in the less destroyed Primary Village just outside of Union proper.

~ Day 8 ~

Awakening to find Union still in ruins, confirming that the events of yesterday were in fact real, most quests are either put aside or are geared toward helping put Union back together. Food still needs to be served so anyone not fit for construction is roped into foraging duties for quests.

+ Quest 13 +

= Generic fetch quest for Kitchen

+ Quest 13 +

Impmon complains that they aren’t being used to their fullest with such menial tasks and Serif admonishes him for his short-sightedness, then Kyara gets a quick reprimand for agreeing with Impmon. Serif tries to spell it out for the pair, with limited success. After lunch, they volunteer for Guard Duty, something Serif is very familiar with; someone might try to take advantage of Union’s weakness and attack, especially since the incident seems to have been from sabotage.

+ Quest 14 +

= Sentry Duty

+ Quest 14 +

Several of those coming or going had seen Serif duke it out with Angemon and, after realizing that was the degenerated ClavisAngemon, couldn’t help but gush over him a little, which made Serif uncomfortable. Impmon, meanwhile, was basking in the attention, even if it was second-hand. They are eventually relieved for the night and camp out with everyone else. He hears several of the younger Tamers crying about missing home.

~ Day 9 ~

The next day, Serif decides to swallow his fear of labs and offer his aid to the scientists; Serif will share what he knows about AU hopping if he gets to experiment with some of their tech to try to boost his own hopping abilities.

+ Quest 15 +

= Help the scientists repair the gateway to the human world

+ Quest 15 +

By lunch the machine is repaired enough that it can function, even if it isn’t pretty; monsters are masters of recycling and making do with what they have. The scientists say it would have probably been a week or more to get the machine repaired without Serif’s help, gaining him more notoriety.

+ Quest 16 +

= Finally, after a week and a half of being in the Digital World, Serif gets to really delve into what makes it tick. Literally.

+ Quest 16 +

Possible Quests

    ●        ClavisAngemon is trying to gather powerful artifacts to artificially raise a digimon’s stats, among which are the Digieggs. DEs contain concentrated energy aligned with one of the crests, though the mythical DE Miracles and DE Destiny are unique in that they have a balanced amount of energy from all 9 crests. They can either induce digivolution in lower level digimon (baby-champion) and can be used to augment armor and weapons for higher level digimon (ultimate and mega).

        ○        Another powerful artifact is a Data Core Crystal, which can aid in digivolution but can cause the subjects higher mental functions to warp or shut down, leaving the digimon a mass of instinctual rage and pain.

    ●        Virus?

    ○        Fight the Sovereigns to gain their respect and support for ClavisAngemon’s cause

    ●        Alphamon might be controlled by a rogue Tamer that he tried to work with

    ●        I admire Apemon, get me some hair. I’ll give you some hair if you get me some beads. I’ll give you the beads if you get me his stretchy bone. I’ll give you the bone over my dead body! Fine, take it. Oh my god you actually did it; I was just kidding, give it back and here’s the beads. You shouldn’t joke about stuff like that.

        ○        Maybe offer to groom him and take whatever hair comes off on the brush

    ●        I want to try a Digi-cake, Flowermon makes them. I’ll make it if you get me some Digi-milk. I’m saving my Digi-milk for Digi-cakes! Oh it’s at Flowermon’s request, why didn’t you say so?
