All old pictures from my gallery represent my family and are part of my family album and because this picture received so many appreciations and this DD and my merit is minimal, I will consider this award a beautiful tribute to old pictures and art.Meantime the DD was retired and things get back to normal, but with or without DD, thank you all for your beautiful appreciation and support!

I imagine that the responsible for DD section from the staff of this site can decide if a DD must be retired.
It was a correctΒ situation, because this is a picture from my family album and this situation is very clear in my gallery and should not be suggested as a DD.

Im dying to know how old he was when this picture was taken. To me, it feels like he cant be any older than 25... but It's hard to tell. Things were very different back then.

I'm sure that your appreciation is correct. The picture is made around 1940 and as I know, my uncle could not have more than 25 years.
Indeed things were very different than and in my opinion, people were more beautiful.

It's obvious that the person who suggested this piece had assumed that you shot it yourself, I believe this happens often here and it's easy to feel like the artist received undo recognition because of this. However, something that doesn't happen often is that you were totally honest about the origin of the photo and because of that it has a really genuine feel and even though you didn't take the photograph the action of you sharing these photos of your family with an internet community is almost a kind of performance art in itself.

It's usually customary to put in the comments somewhere that you were not the original photographer. Though very many could argue that you rephotographed (or maybe scanned in this case) these photos and that alone makes them your own art!

Awesome photo! I love some of the other photos in your gallery as well, I always like looking at old classic stuff. Once in a while, a customer pops into my office with a really old picture that they want retouched/resized/etc. Thanks for sharing this, and congratulations on the DD

I really don't know who was the photographer, but I know for sure that was a studio in a town from Romania, named Braila.
