Description
Familiars are creatures in my story-project that Homosapiens developed as a defense. They are formed when the individual is fairly young (around ages 7-13), and take a variety of shapes. The shape and presentation a familiar takes heavily depends on multiple things, such as the family crest given to a bloodline. Subconscious needs can also help a familiar take a specific shape. With familiars taking on many forms and growing to various sizes, categories developed.

1. Guardians - Familiars that feel the need to protect and guide their person. They often take the form of Carbuncles, or types of small creatures that can follow their person around.

2. Warriors - More aggressive Familiars with the desire to assert their personalities around their person. They take more mythical forms, such as griffins, dragons, and unicorns. These Familiars typically grow into a mid-large body size.

3. Sirens - Familiars that favor the arts of expression. They's often outgoing and somewhat capricious. Sirens are often born out of the intense emotions of their person. They're also more likely to feed off of the feelings of their person.

4. Reapers - Familiars that are more reclusive, even to the extent of hiding from their person. They try to keep to themselves, and often avoid others. Many form strong bonds with their person through telepathy in order to communicate.

5. Legends - Ancient Familiars that take forms of long extinct beasts. They often take their forms and personality from that of their person. Out of all of the categories, Legends are the most diverse.
