Description
Just recently scribbled out this concept-idea for a Spacegodzilla design/redesign, and came up with a rough story.
This Spacegodzilla is a carbon-silicon hybrid extraterrestrial organism infused with G-Cells, that has adapted itself into specific ‘Stages’, each specialized for a set of conditions.
Stage Zero Spacegodzilla is simply a gestalt of these space-adapted G-Cells, capable of self-sustained survival and growth. Whenever the Spacegodzilla entity in any later Stage is critically damaged, it will dissolve into Stage Zero and attempt to flee. Stage Zero has only been seen in action once; when fleeing from the destruction of Stage Two (the spore-like stuff floating from dead!SG).
Stage One Spacegodzilla is the first entity formed by Stage Zero, which was specialized for travel and interaction in outer space. Most of it was formed from silicon-based osteocytes (a.k.a. crystals), though a small portion containing the head and a set of limbs for physical manipulation extended from below. Stage One was capable of electromagnetic and graviton manipulation, used for travelling, moving things (no silly telepa-whatsits here!), and defense. But while Stage One was very strong, it lacked the ability to function properly in an atmosphere. As such, Spacegodzilla was forced to adapt.
Stage Two Spacegodzilla was the adaptation of Stage One for terrestrial functionality (and it’s the one in the picture). Stage Two’s crystals are not nearly as prominent, but still function as batteries, focusing mechanisms, and optical organs (if trilobites can have crystal eyes, so can SG!). Due to its self-sufficiency and adaptation to space, there are some things that are ‘off’ about Stage Two– when compared to terrestrial kaiju. S2 SG is completely incapable of any sort of vocalization, as it communicated via emission of neutrinos and electromagnetic radiation, and– inf fact– lacked lungs or any other respiratory organs (which it didn’t need in space)! The mouth serves as little more than a hole for consumption, and a focus for Stage Two’s ‘Corona Beam’– a miniaturized, concentrated solar flare directed by electromagnetic fields. The feet are just as prehensile as the hands are, and function fine due to the low-level opposition of gravity that Stage Two continually emits.
Even while in one Stage or another, Spacegodzilla is able to adapt itself an extensive amount (rather than changing completely). One prime example occurred a little while before Stage One entered Earth’s atmosphere; the entity impacted onto the International Space Station, and locked onto it for quite some time. Stage One had adapted its mainly silicon components to form a living computer, which interfaced with the Station, and ‘downloaded’ all the information onboard.
Spacegodzilla is highly intelligent, due to gaining access to human knowledge and adapted to understand it. As of current, Stage Zero Spacegodzilla remains in the outer reaches of Earth’s orbit, with unknown goals and an unknown purpose.
