wow. I thought this was a photograph. Do you do this in Vue or another program?

wow... The level of details it's just killing... TG textures r a lot more realisctic than textures in vur IMHO. Great render!

The stones may be fake, but if I didn't see your name below this in my inbox - I would have dismissed this as someone's random shot of a real ground

Amazing! This is easily the best ground shot I've ever seen. Please tell me this will be going up on NWDA eventually if not this should inspire me to try and come up with something like this myself.

yes, this is the start of a pack on NWDA.
but there will be a free tutorial too. i don't announce it yet on the PS forum because I am still working on it and it is far from being finished.
thanks mate

Is this a close up of a much bigger landscape, or is it, a zoomed out view of a whole landscape, if you know what I mean.

I must look at terragen for exporting surfaces like that. it looks great, and no texturing Im assuming.

it's a close up
but i don't know how you can export the surface out of TG2 to be honest...

From a little googling you can export terrain out of terragen, but it cant export the textures. which defeats the point really..

what did you want to export the surfaces for ?

mr-jynx In reply to sethlebatard [2009-08-26 20:40:58 +0000 UTC]

it was just for the textures, to import into blender, they look very real. I know how to generate terrain, but texturing it would be a bitch of a job. But its no big deal, i have vue to mess around with.

mmmmh... you still can use orthographic camera at the vertical of the terrain, take a picture of it (render it) and use it as image texturing in Blender.

yea, I read that solution, but if I remember correctly, theres an image size limitation on the free versions so I doubt you could get very high detail. tho Im not doubting its possible, its just a lot of effort.

Wonderful image with abundant amounts of detail.

The only piece that can hurt the holistic effect of this picture is a little "spiky" surface.

But maybe it's how it should be

no, you're totally right !!!
the spiky surface is a damn shame !
i must admit that this is not the final rendering, i am still working on this surface.
thanks for your comment !
