It appeared that the Dean would be first to reply
And I saw that he spoke with a tear in his eye,
Saying, "Here have I failed and I almost could die
But I'm sure that it's clear that I made my best try;
I have traveled and laboured and made it my way
To spread proper behaviour in all that I say,
When I came to a place where I saw men at play
They had kicked all their shoes off and thrown them away;
All their feet were quite nude, for the men and teen boys
Had completely abandoned all traces of poise,
And the air simply rang with a riotous noise
For they freely indulged in bare feet-ticking joys;"

"But I learned that those people were far from alone
And I plotted just how the infection had grown,
As I pieced it all out that for reasons unknown
It was down to one man acting all on his own;
There were tales of a stranger of shoeless renown
Who converted sound men into acting the clown,
For he conquered decorum and took it right down
As he showed his bare feet off all over the town;
All the fellows soon found going barefoot was sweet
Then he tickled them all on their newly-bared feet,
After they tickled his feet, his task was complete
And foot tickling remained their most glorious treat;"

"I could hardly believe all the stories I heard
It was patently nonsense, it sounded absurd,
But this Barefooting Tickler deserved every word
And was spreading his creed just as free as a bird;
I was sure that this villain fought under the belt
If the sternest decorum he simply could melt,
And I grieved for the world and the blow that he'd dealt
But I formed a resolve to myself as I felt;
That his shoelessness brazenly left me with clues
I'd confront him myself, when I just couldn't lose,
And I'd make him adopt the reforms I would choose
He would stop tickling barefeet and start wearing shoes;
