Description
Some rough concepts for minor characters in my original story, From the Ashes. These are all first passes, so I'll probably revisit these designs sometime in the future. I experimented more with Erhard while Lamia's shows more of my weird design process. The 2nd bounty hunter makes me laugh.. it unintentionally reminds me of the kissing unicorns guy from Tangled XDSo I announced this project and then it was never heard from again! I've just grown apprehensive about posting art anywhere, especially about this project since it's something personal and dear to me. I meant to post more architecture stuff but... yeah, I think I'll hold off on it cause it's atrocious lol. For now I'll stick to my happy place, characters! Costume design is a huuuge part of this so be prepared to see a lot of rough edges and experimenting. And then maybe I'll actually share the main characters eventually :'D

Thank you! That means a lot since I'm trying to improve on character design. I'm just trying to make sure they don't look alike yet one could believe they're from the same time period XD
Luckily there's plenty of breathing room for interpretation since this is fantasy.

Thank you! It's hard to nail down a particular country because I'm pulling from so many things XD Part of it is a mish mash of character concept visuals I've come across that are all stored in my head. So I can vaguely remember the 'style' of clothes I'm aiming for without completely ripping off someone else's design. I think the most clear real-world inspiration are the Vikings for the bounty hunter, and I was inspired by cobras for Lamia's design, since her name basically means snake.
I wish my process had a bit more direction so I could replicate it more easily, but for now I'm just trying to nail down the picture in my head. And I'm trying not to limit myself to just one country/countries (cough Europe) so that I'm free enough to explore other cultures for opportunities in my designs.

there are a few that arent so old, but How To Train Your Dragon, Brave, and maybe some Monty Python skits??
but it also makes me think of a few games ive played recently like castle crashers and shovel knight! but that's just cause i love the aesthetic of armor haha.

Haha realness tho, I love Erhard's design the textures on the clothes and the glasses make them look like a pretty fun/sassy/humorous kinda character! : D
Lamia and Rowan's designs look really solid too! Lamia's no-nonsense expression versus Rowan's heart melting little smile~ :'DDDD
(I think the outfit for Lamia on the far right is the nicest in terms of colour pallate ouo)
Can't wait to see how these will develop and for the main characters! : D

Thanks for saying that. Especially since your art is so good (for real your recent stuff is on fire). Most artists deal with confidence issues in some shape or form, regardless of their skill level. I'm glad you like the designs and I'll definitely try to share more art about the project

I love their outfits! I really love the design of the blonde character with yellow glasses in the top right. They look like a really fun character and I like the deep, rich colors you used.
Also Rowan Thorne looks like a precious character that I will like. XD

Rowan is precious! You just won't see any sign of him in forever, haha. I drew a couple of book 1 characters then BAM, he's all the way in book 2. :'D
