This bugs me so much because I loved it so long but now I'm not sure I do anymore. It's ever so upsetting, really.Buuut anyway, this is based off *coughRIPPEDOFFOFcough* a picture in an old Felix book I found. It's Felix in, I believe at least, Rome. The part of the story was him actually writing letters but he apparently either writes his letter on music paper or in the illustration he was composing. So there it is.
... I had so much fun on the background it's insane.
And... Yeah... There it is.

Nice! This has one of your more impressive non-city backgrounds. And the pose is excellent as well. It's a fair mixture of cartoonish and realistic, with smoother lines in places than your norm.
And I love, love, love that background! Not only is it detailed, which is always a plus, but it's detailed in a believable way. Every object seems to have a purpose for existing, and therefore is incorporated rather nicely into the picture. It makes it feel lived in without being cluttered.
The only downside to this picture, to my eyes at least, is the lighting. It seems a tad bright for a room lit with candles. Perhaps some deeper areas of shadow or a higher amount of contrast between the soft light and the shadows might help with that.
Still, it's a great picture. One I think you should be proud of. It shows a willingness to push your limits a little and do something a tad more grand than average.

Anyway yeah. So much going on here. I love how you made the candlelight effect. I mean it really does look like the room's lit up with candles and not some sorta florescent light source we can't see off "camera"...hehe. Really has a cozy feel to it, yup.
Man it's just so nice to stare at. This'd make one helluva print....*hinthint*

Hey I had a comfy bed in a hotel once....it was a fancy schmancy hotel though (for me that means Holiday Inn lolololllll).
I bet Felix ain't at no Holiday Inn...probably the Marriott or somethin. Or something even fancier. The Ritz?
