Description
The seven stars, companions,Rode along in supersonic van;
Speed and dodging capability
Would earn approval from Han.
Strawburry still held down the helm,
Prism was oddly silent;
Darkness Dude and Bone Marrow
Held conversation, mutually reliant.
Blaze and Blue chattered on
Over angles of attack;
McPaddy stared through time and space
Full mental shelves, to rack.
Before any were the wiser
Unforeseen ambush commenced;
Cut off in front
The escaping hunt
Left our daring crew perplexed.
Burry unbuckled her seatbelt
And called out to the earth;
Beneath the miles of cement
In power, it proved dearth.
Blaze had her trusty, rusty Rufus,
Sheath strapped 'gainst shoulder blade.
Blue was her support, this time,
A small wager to be paid.
Double D clasped little Marrow
Both ready to harmonize
The music of the air and blood
Would come, constructed crosswise.
Prism knew just what this was.
She'd frozen, in flashback;
Could he really be here, to see her?
Or was she a paranoiac?
There's quite a bit of history
That would take ages to tell;
Suffice to say
A touche cliche
Scorned, in a woman's hell.
When the dust had settled
And Prism pulled out of her shock
Two tall shadows staggered closer
While our heroes maintained gridlock.
On the left...a dragon?
Scales like an oil spill,
A wicked, sharp spine
Slimy slick, with brine
Scarlet barbs, set up to kill.
The right, her darling Don.
No longer a faithful mate.
Firing pistons
Gleaming chrome glistens
In thick, sturdy plate.
I know it now, thought Prism.
He was taken from my hands.
Experiments be damned!
He's been programmed
To meet evil demands.
"Team," spoke the Lighted Leader,
"Lay waste to both of them.
We do not dare
Hesitate or spare.
Give them prescription for diltiazem."
Blaze and Blue headed straight for it,
(That's where they got the name.)
Flips and strikes, charging power,
Just like in the game.
Double D laid a foundation,
Caught the android full in the chest.
Marrow's burning tone, whatever bone
Was left, somehow coalesced.
Strawburry felt so useless.
What exactly could she do?
The groundskeeper's work
Proved to be a perk
Though her weapons were still few.
Blaze pointed her double edge
Right at reptile's gullet;
Blue held him fast
While Prism's past
Tore through, like speeding bullet.
All the summer picnics
Plans for children; toys and cribs,
A first date at the drive-in
Blue crocheted baby bibs.
It all came rushing to her mind.
Prism stepped over to cold metal husk.
She looked in his eyes
Could not surmise
In purposely cut-off brusk.
Blaze had the dragon subdued.
Blue noticed what was going down.
She released the tail
Of overgrown snail
Reached for the sleeve of Prism's gown.
The little Firewolf tugged gently.
"Melt him." came her general's reply.
Unfeeling, cold
Recollection's hold
Released it fingers, twisted awry.
Blue waited, knowing the deal.
"Are you sure?" she prodded carefully.
A sharp stare shot
Instantly taught
The swift one to act more readily.
"That's an order," barked Prism,
So unlike her thoughtful manner.
Blue saw past
How fitfully aghast
Emotion overran her.
She finally obeyed.
In half a blink,
Former Don was soldered together.
Double D caught Marrow
The little sparrow
Was improvising, lyrics of blether.
Blaze cried out in pain.
Blue launched herself at vilekin.
The disgusting bastard
Mage warrior, had plastered
In poisonous filth, all over her skin.
She was cut, on her left arm.
Just above the wrist.
With muscle searing
And pointed barb, nearing,
Overdrive came from being pissed.
You see, Blaze shares a point with Inigo.
Both are ambidextrous.
Changing to the left
A few scales, bereft,
The dragon snarled, a sound infectious.
Blaze held on for a moment longer.
Then, falling to her knees,
Out like a light
Prompting the real fight
Burry and McPaddy gathered their steeze.
McPaddy placed fingertips to temples,
Regaining clarity of mind.
You may call it a plot hole,
The truth? Prism's memories intertwined.
The sheer pain flooded McPad's mind.
Long and short of it, that's all.
Back in the game
Things relatively tame
The lizard was left to maul.
"Have mercy, Lady Danielle!"
Hissed the sloppy, stuttering thing.
Flabbergasted at his knowledge
And shock still lingering,
She relented telekinetic hold.
Spoke directly into his brain,
"I know not from where you come,
Or how you could prove to be so dumb.
But if bother us again, you dare?
Your barb from your tail, I'll tear."
The drying reptile squeaked,
And vanished in a cloud of blood-colored smoke.
Prism forgot her issues
And removed her pearly cloak.
She wrapped it around her friend.
"It'll help to slow the venom."
Blaze stiffened, tried to shrug away
In a manner flippant and benumb.
"You almost let me die."
Came the killing words of ice.
All eyes were on Prism,
Who once again, acted like gneiss.
No further words came to either.
Prism simply gave the order to regroup.
At headquarters they'd reconvene
Build back waning strength of the troupe.
Blue and McPaddy helped Blaze,
Strawburry stared on, unsure.
Dude and Marrow held hands and walked away
Arms around each other, a touch demure.
Join us for next time, darling readers,
To discover what happens next.
Love or friend
And strength as godsend
Have left them all perplexed.
