What's your opinion on the Rebuild series?

I know some fans of NGE didnt really like that series, but I actually liked it xD I enjoyed the improved animation, but I do think that the themes werent as strong as in the original.
Personally, its more just 'fun to watch' rather than me getting something deep out of it haha.

Rebuild was actually my first experience with Evangelion. It may not be as deep or symbolic as NGE, and there are certainly some issues with writing (Mari), but I still really enjoy it.
maybe it's because Anno wasn't spiraling into depression when he made Rebuild.

Kaworu had more screentime in Rebuild than in NGE, which is the sad bit.
Mari could have been good if they elaborated a little bit more on her, maybe made her an actual character.
Really, Rebuild would have been much better if each movie was instead a miniseries. It would have had more time to establish everything, and they wouldn't have to truncate and remove all of the character development stuff.

If you mean the serial anime, theres a couple theories about it, but basically its about Shinji finally accepting/not hating himself, since he kinda goes into an existential crisis throughout the series. I know a lot of people didnt like it cause it seemed anticlimactic for a mecha anime but I personally like trippy/artsy/existential stuff like that haha.
But if you mean the movie ending (where Shinji chokes Asuka) then... lmao your guess is as good as mine xD
