actualy the history goes was orig. St. Louis Browns, team moved to Chicago (?) and at some point changed name to Cardinals. Team comes back to St. Louis and keeps that name. The once football team called the Cardinals... Maybe same owner at one time and wanted to confuse everyone or save money on souvenirs.
