Description
This was originally a b/w pencil sketch that I did during holidays, thought I'd colourize it and post it for all of yousuffering with cold weather
It was suppose to be her little black dress, but I decided to change it at the last moment.

I love it, I really do. Nevertheless, I do believe IΒ΄ve got a question for this picture ... If the lines of the pattern of her stockings are kinda horizontal, how come the lines of the stocking of her extended leg, also are horizontal? If my trouserleg is horizontally striped, and I move it up a little bit - well, itΒ΄s not that technically advanced that it remains horizontal no matter what my pose happens to be ... I really donΒ΄t understand this, but nevertheless this is a sure fav - because of her facial expression, her pose and - well, I do like her legs here!

Sam looks fantastic and ever so elegant. The cocktail dress itself is fantastic, but add the fishnets, heels and makeup and she could be a serious maneater. I love that smile too.

That said, it's a wonderful pic. Sam in true Butch Hartman style is difficult to make look the subtler type of sexy, but you pull it off nicely here.

What exactly do you find hard about depicting Sam, maybe I can help.

Well, with a lot of practice I started to dominate the most basic of this style, but I still have some problem with the proportions of the head and hair normally when I draw them are to small, don't look bad but still not as good as I wish, about the body well the most problems are the legs of course

Best thing is to try and get a good screen cap of her and using tracing paper, redraw only the major body parts and leave out the details, only using construction lines as guides for the face (eye line, centre of face, etc).
Then measure the distance from her chin to the perceived top of her skull, and use that as your head measurement, as you've mentioned you're having problems with proportions.
If you like, send me a link or a sketch of her and I can critique it. I did this sometime ago for another DA artist and I had a lot of fun doing it
