My first attempt to an illustration like picture, I think that as overall is good even if I dislike the simple light effect coming from the book: it is too simple and boring, but I was not able to make something better, any suggestions are welcomed.
The picture has a very light mood perhaps even a little childish but this was intentional, the idea was to capture the sense of wonder and of reality suspension of your first fantasy book (by the way in my case was the “The Sword of Shannara”).
